Also- in Obama's speech last night:
"Tonight we have proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth but from the enduring power of our ideals- democracy, liberty, opportunity and unyielding hope."
At this point in history, I can actually believe that to be true. It was very emotional for me to watch this speech, and hear about all of the times in American history that made it seem like we would never come to this historic moment. People who were born when African Americans and women couldn't vote have seen a woman run for president and vice president with a real shot at it, and have seen an African American elected to be our president- by a large majority at that. People who tried to discriminate and halt progress, and people who doubted that this could ever happen have finally been shown up and proven wrong by their country, and I am just so proud to have been a part of it.
