Alkari deeply sympathises with tdu000, and trusts that she has now recovered from this ordeal. But at least she only had to go to one Speech Day - some poor parents endure up to three ...

The idea of whip-cracking lessons is excellent, but really, CHK should have a selection of whips to choose from on her birthday. http://www.mickswhips.com.au/products/index.html

However, Alkari shook her head at yesterday's idea of a mere leather saddle centrepiece. As the resident expert in matters equine (and with a very fine and varied leather collection of her own!), she recommends that any saddle should be a real one. Especially on a birthday! To go with the stockwhip, one of these is recommended: http://www.saddlery.com.au/go/our-products/saddles/stock/stock-saddles

There are also many interesting accessories on offer at http://www.saddlery.com.au/go/tack-and-equipment

I had no idea that there were whips for babies. Obviously the name refers to the size rather than the whipee.

The speaker was Elizabeth Broderick (Sex Discrimination Commissioner and Commissioner responsible for Age Discrimination) who was blessedly brief and quite amusing. And not having Philip Jensen pontificate (the Bishop of North Sydney came instead) was a relief.
