Ginny Potter stepped away from the Floo Connection and wondered why she had agreed to drive a group of tourists anywhere they wanted to go on the Magical Mystery Tour Bus. She was only doing it as a favor for her mum's friend, grandma_kate. It wasn't that Grandma Kate wasn't a nice old lady, but Ginny was beginning to have doubts about the rest of the ( Read more... )

When Molly Weasley, Nic Meath, and Grandma Kate Apparated to that convenient alley next to Kinds Cross, they were delighted to find Ginny and the Magical Mystery Tour Bus already there. It was a good thing that it had industrial Strength Confoundus Charms on it, otherwise the colourful psychedelic swirls that were painted all over it would have made Muggles think about San Francisco during the Summer of Love, instead of suddenly remembering that they needed to be anywhere except in the vicinity of the large bus.

Molly rushed up the steps of the tour bus as soon as Ginny opened the door. Nic and Kate followed her and watched apprehensively as Molly gave Ginny one of her bone-crushing hugs. They didn't want the only experienced bus Apparation expert disabled before the trip began. As Molly was asking Ginny if there was anything that she needed, Nic heard three 'pops' and turned around to greet his grandson Dom, his granddaughter Sara, and Oliver Wood. He was glad that they had agreed to come with him on this weekend.

Both Dom and Oliver had retired from Puddlemere United and the hectic pace of professional Quidditch, but they had remained fast friends. Dom always told anyone who would listen that having his best friend fall in love with his little sister was brilliant. Since he had shared a room with Oliver for years, he'd know the most painful way to kill him if he harmed a hair on Sara's head.

Ginny used the arrival of the three young people as a chance to escape her mum's grasp. She took out her passenger list and began checking names off, then greeted Sara with an air kiss, hugged Oliver and told him that Harry was off in Wales on Auror business, and held out her hand to Dom.

'I'm Ginny Potter, and I'll be the principal driver of the tour bus this weekend,' she said. 'I was a great admirer of yours while I was at Hogwarts, but you retired before I was starting for the Harpies. Puddlemere was our last match before the play-offs.'

While Ginny was visiting with Nic and his guests, Kate and Molly were choosing their seats carefully. They wanted seats together in three rows, but not too close to the front door or to the bar in the back. They noticed that a throne had been set up about midway down the aisle with velvet ropes separating the three rows on either side from the rest. There was even a sign by it said, 'No turtleneck, no service!!!'

'Why don't we take the seats across from the Royal Compartment?' suggested Molly.
'Nic and Dom can sit in front of us and Sara and Oliver behind.'

'Capital idea,' replied Kate, and began documenting the trip with her small magically enhanced video camera. She conjured a WWN Tell-a-Vision logo for the seats in the three rows that Molly had picked, along with MEDIA passes for the six of them. Then Molly reached in her large bag and pulled out the first of her shrunken picnic baskets, set up a table in the aisle, and started laying out a spread.

"We must eat a little something, lest we grow faint while waiting for the rest to arrive.'
