Two Weeks!
So, I've turned in my notice at work and will be leaving for NOVA/DC soon! It hasn't completely hit me just yet. Though I had been thinking about moving for a while, I feel like they (work) found out only as soon as I did.
I finally got my mom's blessing which, coincidentally, came after most (nine) of my relatives in Virginia spent four days in our house. I'll have to thank two of my cousins who might have had a hand in that. (: Talking to my mom was incredibly easier compared to a terrible Round 1 with both parents a month or so ago. She feels better about my moving to DC now, and that was probably the biggest step. Dad's been on board, too.
Now today it's felt more like a push and pull with him. Maybe he has that fear of my going to cosmo school still? Which I'm not- I'm want to take classes in theatre/costume design-tech. I am enticed by how it will combine my love of sewing and making clothes, hair, makeup, working with my hands, working with different people, not being confined to a cube, academics, storytelling, collaboration.. the same reasons I suspect people in the field chose, as well. If anyone has any advice or experience with this, please let me know!
Anyhow, I am going to channel that invincible/foolish twenty-something spirit and believe it's going to work out greatly. If it doesn't work out, well I'll just come back home, and that's really not so bad in itself. My plan is to move to NOVA with my aunt and uncle and work pt in B&N while securing the more serious job and saving a few paychecks. Then I will live in DC proper, and see about going back to school!
