As usual, I was late to the game.
I didn't stumble across Lloyd Newson's work until the "King's pleasure" segment in the first act of
Jarman's Edward II film adaptation, which, in turn, I didn't see until four years after its theatrical release.
And as usual - again - I Netflix-binged on Newson's company,
DV8 Physical Theatre, to make up for lost time about six years ago.

My sudden resurgence of interest in gay high art today was brought on by something in the gay pop culture that seems specifically derivative of Lloyd Newson's work from the mid-1990s:

I'm probably feeling too self-satisfied about making the connections, particularly given my general lag behind the bleeding edge.
The world could have more prioritized space in my awareness, perhaps.
