too bad these aren't for fall 2013

that time again

London: Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.
Fall 2014 Menswear.

I've looked at it three times now, and it's getting more and more appealing each time. Part of it is the near-total lack of color, which is nothing new for me.

Plus, I'm still an old school sweater queen at heart, and those three up there are making me a wee bit giddy.

It's still pretty clearly McQueen's vision, but the patchwork elements from previous seasons is approached with much more subtlety. I am in love with the coat silhouettes, particularly in the leather-ish looks.

I did giggle a little bit at the Tippi Hedren drag, but it didn't really take away from the clothes enough to irritate me, and to be fair, some of the shorter jackets are a bit too Michael Jackson circa 1985 to be taken seriously, but the plaids are at least good to point and laugh at, and on the whole, there are more legitimately plausible looks in this collection than merely amusing ones.
