my eyes, they burn
Milan. Philipp Plein Menswear.
I'm trying (without much success) to form polite sentences to describe this collection, and it's becoming progressively more difficult with each look from this show.
Fuck it, I'm not a fashion writer that owes anyone a pleasant, constructive review for a print magazine.
I will refer to this collection henceforth as “The Collection Situation.” If ever there was a clothing line designed with
Michael Sorrentino in mind - short of being
designed by Sorrentino himself - it's this one. In fact, with any luck, this collection could
take some weight off of everyone's minds over in Marketing at Abercrombie & Fitch.
One word keeps flashing through my head every time I try to encapsulate the essence of what I presume is this collection's targeted demographic:
DOUCHE.
One look in particular is ripped directly from Catalogue Douche - Spring 1985. The thing is, most of the guys who'd buy and wear these clothes wouldn't have been old enough at the time - if they were alive at all back then.
(In the interest of fairness, that look is closer to Ed Hardy than anything in the A&F universe, but there's enough crossover in the market at this point)
And that first exit is not a mistake; the first look that walked this menswear show is a miniskirt. I can't even fathom the reasoning, unless douches have started doing drag, or they just need matching looks for their girlfriends.
At the price points I suspect these looks are produced at, can they be worn even half-ironically?
