I hear the ticking of the clock

monday's silly fanboy, part 2
Hmmm.

An adequate performance in an otherwise lackluster episode.  And the quality of the whole show can't be blamed on the lack of air conditioning in the studio, it's all about mediocre song choices, either made or approved by the coaches.

If Sasha really wants to get away from “The Broadway Thing” and move more towards the pop/R&B vibe, the first thing she must do is relax the diction, even just a little bit.  Shakira didn't say as much in the coaching rehearsal, but that's at the core of it.  Sasha can make it as intimate as she possibly can, but the strong over-enunciation of every syllable and terminal consonant still pulls everyone in the house to the back row of the balcony in jarring ways.  Of all the contestants, Sasha, perhaps one of the four most talented, also has the most obvious technique, and I don't know if that helps much in this context.
