sometimes I get just too full of myself
Another amusing trip down Postsecret Lane:
Okay, that last one I put in just because it irritates me. Really, what that person seems to want is a nice faith that is never credibly challenged from within or without, and that’s just stupid. Not to put too fine a sectarian point on it, but faith that is never challenged is not faith at all, it’s mindless dogma. Further, if Bill Maher, of all people, is enough to shake your faith, then your faith probably needed some shaking.
And - as if it really needed to be said - straight guys can quit it with the designer underwear, because, as I have always suspected, the ladies aren’t any more impressed by it any more than you can tell the difference between La Perla, Victoria’s Secret, or the tacky stuff they still sell at Frederick’s of Hollywood - as if you cared about the difference anyway.
As seems to be so often the case with many people I know, getting fired from a job is a relief, because if it comes to getting fired (versus getting laid off or resigning), it’s often enough because one’s attitude towards the job is largely ambivalent.
