[Static crackles over the feed for a moment, the device being abused, muffled or perhaps both. Just a split second of blissful silence after that until-]

Either it can't get enough of you, or seems to dislike giving me the proper amount of time to mourn a person's absence.

[He raises a brow at that one, the second one to comment he hasn't been gone long. He's almost curious what the other brat got up to, but that's to look into a bit later.]

And just who the hell are you?

[[And he, in turn, receives a brow raise of her own.]]

You insinuate that you clearly remember being here, however you apparently only have selective memory of the time you spent? How unfortunate. Perhaps I will have the time to miss you then while we become reacquainted.

My name is Rose. I assisted you with a raging Gyarados, as well as curiously prodded a piranha like fish that found your arm all-too appetizing to ignore. We has spoken on a small number of occasions after and before that as well.

If it was that fourteen year old brat Bel's talking about, I'm about eighteen years too old for that crap. I was in this place before, but according to my gear it's been over a year since then.

[He jerks a thumb over his shoulder to the Gyarados glaring in his general direction.]

Only raging asshole Pokémon I've put up with is Pioggia there and that ungrateful bastard I had to work my ass off to get him what he is now.

...ah, I see. That is very likely the exact one that I am thinking of. Johto never ceases to surprise me, even when I am sure I have seen all of its tricks.

I suppose this calls for a proper introduction then, doesn't it? It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

Voi! You're not half fucking bad for a kid, the sentiments returned for now.

[He can't really call her a brat when she seems more mature than the large majority of Varia itself, which is a relief in itself in some form or another.]

Any idea how long it takes to get from this shitty starting town to Goldenrod if someone's in a hurry?

I do try.

[[She has to pause a moment to pull her map out and give it a glance over.]]

That would depend. If you're going on foot, and have no access to the shortcut, it would likely take roughly...a month, I would say. Possibly a week more. Riding a Pokemon would shorten that by a week or so likely. If you've access to the shortcut - which would require someone who is there and has in their possession a Wailmer pail - I would say about half that time.

Of course, after obtaining the Violet City gym, you're able to ride a Pokemon who knows fly. Flying would be much, much quicker if you were able to either borrow a Pokemon who knows it or borrow the HM itself from someone.

So I'd have to beat the Gym Leader before I'd even be able to use someone else's Pokémon that knows it?

[Xanxus is going to be annoyed, but he can deal. Maybe he'd be able to take a few Pokémon from his Boss to beat it in the process.]

As odd as that sounds, yes. I assume it would merely waddle off with you on its back rather than actually attempt to fly, but I've never attempted it myself.

[He pauses for a moment, thinking it over.]

But if it's not a borrowed Pokémon, if it's Pokéball is still in the possession of it's original owner and it's just coming to pick me up, I'm assuming the badge wouldn't be required still, right?

[[And now she gives a pause.]]

...I'm...not sure. I've never thought of that, nor have I attempted that. I suppose, logically, it wouldn't be required no.

If anything, it would be worth a try if you're able to.

Voi! Xanxus is an impatient bastard, he won't stand for anything less. I'm not even being given the option to train Pioggia up in the process, he wants my presence in Goldenrod immediately.

Assuming the Pokémon will still be in his possession, there shouldn't be any issues. I'll end up finding out one way or another.

Impatient indeed, though if Pioggia is already a Gyarados, it's likely that it doesn't need too terribly much training before you reach Goldenrod. The Pokemon around the area here are rather weak, and could easily be used for further training upon arrival.

My last memories of this place are about three days after he finally evolved, so he's not all that strong yet. I'll just fucking see when I get there.

I'm just glad he's the way he is and not a fucking Magikarp again.

[There's a slight twitch to his eye as he says that, obvious bad memories when he had to train the poor fish which went under a fair amount of abuse.]
