it always amazes me when great warriors speak of god and christ with such awe.

guderian, one of the greatest commanders in the history of war and one of hitler's top generals was a deep believer as was his wife. all he could do, he admited, under the madness was try his best to stear the country away from it.

what an incredibly complex and heavy weight that sat on his shoulders! you see, it wasn't just his religious beliefs. if you made it to the status he held, that meant you wore the uniform from dusk till dawn every day of your life from a very young age. you were quite literally held at a higher status than normal human beings. it was all because militia held a profound loyalty and devotion and sacrifice to their mother country. it was practically a religion.

what a great tear in his soul it must have been to fight inside himself between devotion of country and god, between loyalty toward his country and to hitler, between morality and his childhood upbringing, the stark unacceptance of infidelity!
