this was given to me by a housmate:
Shane Bernier has been battling Leukemia since 2004. Since he was 4 years old, he has had to spend his nights and days at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). He is turning 8 on May 30th and his dream is to be in the Guiness Book of World Records for the most cards recieved. He needs 350 miullion cards and is recieving approximtely 3000 a day. Shane says that he wants the cards because he "likes seeing his name on paper." His supporters say that the cards are a way for him to experience joy which is in important step in recovery...it takes either a couple of dollars or a scrap of paper to make Shane smile, please tak the time to send him a card...

ALSO, on a more personal note:
I may be going to Florida as part of a disaster relief team going to work with the families effected by the tornados in the Lake County area. It's yet to be determined when and if a team is actually going out. I'm going to try to talk with the coordinater this week. Whether or not I go, I'm pretty sure they would be open to community volunteers who want to lend a hand to their neighbors in need. Let me know if you are interested and I can try to get you connected. Thanks.
Love,
Amy
