A girl lied to me today. She expressed interest in befriending me, and only later I discovered that it was because I possessed the homework solutions and two midterms to one of her classes that I took last spring. It's not that I had invested too much in the relationship, but it was just cheapening for me. I'm careful how I choose my friends, but I don't turn anyone away the first time. I give everyone that opportunity without judgment though do not claim my friendship is a highly coveted commodity.
I maintain a hierarchy among friends. I don't imagine there's anything strange in that. Those who resonate with me in some way I hold dearer as would be expected. In this sense, it is the overlap in beliefs and interests that determines this compatibility, and of course the gradations continue toward those who motivate me to improve myself by virtue of their presence in my life.
Honesty is king for me, though some people would prefer regicide...
