He'd ben to church, and had collected his first pay check for the work he did in and around the church. It wasn't much, but then he didn't need much.

He'd spent most of the meager savings he had on food and clothes for River, and had no regrets about it. He was a man of God, he lived to serve others, and in truth wished he could give her more, or at the least, offer her a bed to sleep in. It was that thought, that inspired him to find a furniture store, and consider buying a bed for his apartment. The paycheck he clutched in his hand was just enough to cover the cost of the most basic bedding set he could find.

He bought a loaf of bread with the money that remained, and headed to a nearby pond to sit and feed the ducks.
