'Hope, please sit still for just one moment.' Etain struggled slightly with her niece as she tried to run off and play with the other children in the park.
'Wanna go plays!' She tried to tug away from her Aunt how had a firm grip on her arm.
'Just let me wipe your face and then you can go.'
Hope stopped struggling and looked back at her Aunt, 'Promise.'
'I promise sweetie,' she smiled softly at her, 'but you have chocolate cake all up your cheek.'
Hope giggled and sat herself down on the blanket once more. 'Oh,' she laughed again, watching her Aunt look for the wipes, 'sorry.'
'It's okay, I just don't want you all messy,' with a soft, careful touch she wiped the chocolate from Hopes face, smiling as she did so. She loved days like this, spending time with Hope, but it only happened when she was having a good day and they wasn't something that happened too often. It was hard being what she was, envy was such a horribly thing to live with and there were days when she believed that everyone in te world was better than she was.
It was why she had coloured ribbon wrapped around her wrists, to hide the scars.
'Now, there you go,' she smiled as she put the wipe away, 'It wasn't that bad was it?'
'I can go now?'
'Yes you can go.'
With a squeel Hope got up and ran away, coming back seconds later to kiss Etain on the cheek before running back to play with the other children on the swings and climbing frames. It was days like these she loved, days Hope could be the child she should be. Hope would be one soon and she looked and acted like a six year old.
