The cold evening air made the wound in her shoulder ache, she shouldn't be out in the night like this, but really she had nothing else to do, no-one to spend time with. No family, no real friends. Well none apart from Snake and he was busy with something or other, he usually was.
Glancing up at the starry sky she felt tears prickle her eyes, this was just another person she could chalk up to letting her down. Letting out a breath she shook her head and turned away from the noise of the pier, the laughing children, the happy families, the couples.
She could count the people that mattered to her on one hand, on half the fingers on one hand, and everyone else just seemed to let her down. Pulling her jacket around her she walked away from the pier, finally giving up. How foolish she was to come here now.
Walking down the streets she headed to her house before tooling up and heading off through one of the local parks. She probably shouldn't be out playing hero with an injured shoulder, but it was all she had.
