It had been a pretty uneventful day so far for Damon, it was Friday which meant he had to get all his chores done so he could enjoy the weekend. It was nearing the late afternoon and Damon was trying to hurry, since he had plans tonight and couldn't be late. Him and Graham were going to go down to the river in Northern Essex. It was their favourite place to hang out, and sometimes they would go exploring in the gully on the other side of the river. This time Damon promised Graham he would bring a few bottles of wine, something he rarely did since he never wanted his parents to notice any missing. Damon finished up the last of his homework, walked downstairs and took a quick glance at the clock. He quickly grabbed a bag and put 2 wine bottles in it making sure his mom was no where near the wine cabinet in the dinning room.
"6:15, better start walking to Graham's" he murmured to himself. "Bye Mum!" he called as the door shut with a loud bang behind him.

Damon came into view of Graham's cute eighteenth century home on the corner of the street. He walked up the little pathway, placing the bag in one of the bushes against Graham's house, and placed a few knocks on the door. Moments later a woman in probably her late 30's opened the door, smiling at Damon.

"Hello Mrs. Coxon, is Graham ready? We were going to go hang out"

"Why yes he is, he's been waiting all d-"

"DAMON!!!" Graham screamed and came running to the door, and quickly wrapped his arms around Damon.

"Errm... hey mate. Would you mind maybe loosing up on your grip.....ow."

"Oh, yea sorry. I was just excited to see you was all." Graham adjusted his glasses, and turned to face his Mother.

Graham's Mother laughed lightly. "Have fun boys, be sure to stay safe, and don't stay out too late."

"Yea yea, Mum we know..." the brunette said in annoyance. The woman smiled at both the boys before she closed the door.

The two boys started down the pathway when the blond remembered what he had hidden in the bushes. He quickly ran back to the house and snatched the bag, leaving his friend confused on what he was doing.

"What's in there? Graham asked while trying to see inside the bag.

"It's the wine I promised to bring. I had to hide it there since I wasn't sure who was going to answer the door."

"Damon...." Graham started to worry. "I-I can't go h-home d-dr-drunk." His face was very serious as he turned and looked at the blond.

"Don't worry," Damon reassured. "My Mum was going to call yours to ask if you could sleepover. "She will say yes, I know she will." The blonde grinned and watched the worry in Graham's face dissipate.

Both boys were very silent as they made their way to the river. Just being in each other's company was comforting enough. The sun was starting to sit very low in the sky, adding beautiful pinks and reds to the clouds. It was the middle of May now, and the weather was surprisingly very warm considering Essex wasn't known for having wonderful weather.

The blonde and brunette saw the river coming into sight when they heard something overhead.

"QUACK QUACK!" startled, both looked up to see a gaggle of geese overhead. It looked as though they were landing right on the riverbank.

Damon was first to break the silence. "C'mon Gra, I got an idea." The blonde started running towards the river, keeping at a pace Graham could keep up with.

"What are we doing?!"

"Just start yelling, and keep running." the older boy instructed.

The brunette, catching on to what Damon was doing, let out a loud scream. "AHHHHH!!" Damon also let out a scream as both were nearing the geese. Then all at once, the geese took flight and flew over to the other side of the river, and into the gully out of site. The two friends stopped, and started to regain their breath as they both smile at one another.

"Well... that was kind of fun." the dark haired boy huffed.

Damon nodded with a smile and sat on the grass near the edge of the river. Graham sat beside his friend and watched as Damon took the bottles out of the bag and handed one to him. Luckily, the older boy had remembered to bring a corkscrew and got the cork out of his bottle with a loud "POP!" He then handed the corkscrew to Graham who carefully popped the cork out of his own bottle.

"Let the fun begin!" the older boy then took a long swig from the bottle. Graham eyed his bottle for a second, and looked at his friend before shrugging and taking a rather larger swig himself.
