Macomb Community Rotating Emergency Shelter Team.
You all may have hear me talk about this program before. I talk about it all the time. In the program, groups of people travel from church to church every week. In the week they are in each church, the church feeds them, lets the shower, does their laundry, etc. etc. They are allowed to stay in the program for a month. The idea behind it is that they are outside from 8am until 6pm when the return back to the church for dinner. In that time they are working on getting back on their feet and doing what they need to do to get that done. My church only takes in men because it works better for us. Now that all the boring information is out. I mention this because my church does a week every year and it is my favorite week of the year. Our week just ended today and it was sort of a bitter sweet. I went five of the seven mornings to help. You would be surprised how well you get to know the group in that short period of time. I was unable to go help for breakfast this morning because I worked so late last night. However, when I got to the church to teach Sunday School, a few of the men were lingering around so I was able to say good bye to a few of them. I gave one guy a hug and told him I will keep him and all the rest of the guys in my prayers. It was really bitter sweet. I am glad that I do not have to wake up early to help but at the same time, I had fun doing it and do not regret it for one moment. During MCREST week, sleep is overrated. Please keep these men and anyone else who is suffering in this time of need in your thoughts and prayers. I really do hope nothing but the best for them. I take so much for advantage when these guys have practically nothing...well Henry has about a million hats haha. :) I will miss those guys and I hope that one day I see them again on better terms.
