Valentine's Day was lovely. The morning was hectic. I picked up the little guy I watch at 8:45 and we headed to the preschool for the Valentine's Party. I'm the "party mom" for Nick's class, which means I plan the parties and bring the projects. I had only managed 2 projects for the Valentine's party, but it was ok because the teacher had enough to keep them busy the whole class period.

I brought sugar cookies to decorate (along with the decorations) and these little foam sun-catcher things.

Anyway, Little Guy got to hang out in the babysitting room. He's going to be old for his grade since his birthday is just 2 weeks after the cut-off. It means he's ready for preschool now, but he can't really start until next year. So he was REALLY excited to come to school with Nick and get to participate in the party.

The parents all come for the party and bring siblings and we eat a ton of sugar and it's generally chaos, and yesterday was no exception. All the kids had a good time though, and we were able leave in time to pick up the 5-year-old from the bus stop.

After the party the day progressed normally. I crocheted a scarf with thick yarn that only took me about half an hour and the boys were picked up at 3. Then my mom came over for a little Valentine's get together with Nick. We had cupcakes and tea. :)

When my darlingest husband came home he brought me a box of chocolates (which I'd requested) and also one for him and his mother and his sister. So we brought Valentine's from Nick to his Gramma and Auntie Jenn. Then Michael and I went and got Potbelly for dinner and brought it back to the in-laws.

We're totally over the whole fancy dinner out for Valentine's Day thing, if we were ever into it in the first place. Our first Valentines's Day included dinner out and a hotel room for the night (we both still lived with parents then). That was 2004. Since then we've been really low-maintenance about it.

Nick got a coloring book and a HUGE box of wooden train track for Valentine's Day. He and Little Guy are very happily playing with the new track in the playroom now, allowing me time to write this entry.

We have another awesome TAC Vocal Workshop coming up tomorrow night, that I'm looking forward to, and sometime this week I need to go to American Apparel and spend the gift certificate I got for Christmas since it's the kind that expires. I've been working pretty well on projects, completing a scarf yesterday was nice. I'm kind of de-stashing yarn so I can spin more and actually have storage space.

My fancy schmancy new sewing/embroidery machine is utterly fabulous and makes me want to sew more and more. It works SO well, I can't even express how much better I am at sewing with it than I am with the economy type sewing machine I had before. This thing is TOP NOTCH. If a sewing machine can be epic, this one is for sure.

Fairly certain that's all I really have to update about now. I saw a few fandom things that I'll probably address later in the week in an entry, mostly Wings related stuff. :)
