The Gene Genie is back...

But when, I hear you ask? No-one will tell us, the swine. But the press pack is out and the build-up has begun. Naturally this prompts me to speculate, but it's hardly worth bothering anyone else with, so this is mainly for my own benefit. Don't click on the cut if you're avoiding spoilers:

  • Ashley's writing episode four rather than seven as one might expect - just how pivotal will that episode be?
  • In which, of course, we see the face from LoM - Jackie Queen. A picture full of speculative possibility can be found on Ruth Millar's IMDB page:

  • No Mick Ford writing an episode *sob* :(
  • Jack Lothian wrote the deeply unsatisfactory last episode of Doc Martin series three - I worry for episode six.
  • Another Doc Martin connection in the form of director Ben Bolt - seems like Kudos have taken advantage of the Doc's year off.
  • Who is Martin Summers (the always excellent Adrian Dunbar) and what will his significance be? I'm guessing "Mysterious Stranger"
  • Will Viv suffer demotion? Or is it just a press office cock-up?
  • Would someone please tell Beth Willis you don't "break" an equilibrium; you upset it.
  • Roger Allam (Supermac) tends to do an excellent line in smarminess - I predict we will see that in evidence. I also wonder if Alex might fall for it a little bit, but Gene won't?
  • Nice to see that Chris and Shaz will be getting more story, but I worry that Ray sounds a bit on the peripheral.
  • Chris stripping! Tee hee. Even I stopped before actually getting him taking his kecks off...

Ian Wylie's blog has a tantalising and downright unhelpful "first review" of episode one; on previous experience, virtually none of it will make sense until after the event. Now all we need is a ruddy start date before I go insane...
