A Matter of Loaf and Death

I am remiss in pontificating on events over Crimbo and the New Year, so cue a flurry of posts to make up for it. First up, my favourite plasticine heroes:

I will come clean - I didn't think it was one of the best; perhaps the Wallce-get's-a-love-interest/Thunderbirds mickey-take format is wearing a tad thin now. But it's Wallace and Gromit, innit? Even their worst would beat everything else into a cocked hat, and it was good. As ever it rewards repeated viewings as you pick up more of the background detail and clever touches. It was nice to see the 'Duck Vesta' matches from A Grand Day Out making a reappearance, for instance. And was I the only one to squeal with delight that amongst Gromit's possessions was a Bagpuss cuddly toy? What a timely homage to Mr Postgate, albeit entirely fortuitous.

As ever, Gromit 'acted' Wallace off the screen with his speaking expressions. How can you possibly have a tender moment between two plasticine dogs? But you can, and it was superbly done. Yeah; not one of the best overall, but still full of wonderful touches. 9/10
