Milk

My cats, fourteen and fifteen years old, have been on a mix of home-cooked and raw for about two and a half years now, and the fourteen year old is being rather puzzling. He was always a picky eater, liking only kibble and white-meat turkey, but since he's been off kibble he's discovered food--or rather FOOD!!!!--in a big way, willing to try any new food I offer, and a few I don't. He loves raw beef heart and raw pork liver, for instance. Also pineapple juice for some reason.

In the last week or two, though, he's started going utterly crazy over milk. If I have a glass of milk he has to get some too and he pops up in the kitchen any time anyone opens the refrigerator. It doesn't seem to give him diarrhea, so I've been giving him a little most days, maybe 1/4 cup. Before this he would never drink milk, didn't even want to lick out ice cream bowls.

So two questions: one, is there any reason not to give him milk, since it's not giving him diarrhea? And two, any suggestions on why the sudden craving? His other food has bone meal in it, so I wouldn't think it was the calcium.
