Personality:
Kiritsugu is a man who has lived a rather traumatic life, and as such, has two distinct and opposite sides that he shows. He has the part of his personality that his family sees and the part that his enemies get. It all started when he was just an innocent child who had an innocent crush on a girl. Kiri's father completed an experiment and turned Kiri's crush into a vampire. She begged for Kiri to kill her but he couldn't bring himself to do it. Because of his actions, the entire village they lived in was killed. Young Kiri was approached by a woman named Natalia who gave him a gun and said he should kill his father before he commits more harm. As Kiri shot his father in the back in cold blood, he came to the realization that the ends will always justify the means. If he could kill one person to save ten, so be it. He would be a Hero of Justice.

Kiri quickly adapted to his new training given to him by Natalia and became a well known freelance agent with the title “Magus Killer”. Ruthless and efficient, many wished to stay out of his way and others wished to use him. Finally, while on a mission, Kiri used a missile launcher to shoot down a plane Natalia was on because it was full of ghouls. After killing the woman who was his mother figure for most of his life, all the illusions he held as hero of justice collapsed around him but he continued on the path he had created.. He killed for the sake of a better world but someone new entered into his life.

Irisviel von Einzbern and the rest of her family were tired of losing in the “Grail War”. They decided to take the best possible measure to win the next one and hired Kiritsugu to do the job for them. With a wife and a child, Kiri began to live life anew, discarding his old persona. Now, he was a caring person who loved to play with his daughter and spend time with his wife. But when the Grail War rolled around, Kiri put back on his Magus Killer persona. But this time, he wasn’t doing it because he wanted to be a hero. He was doing it because he wanted to save his wife and give his child a perfect world to live in.

Unfortunately, this very thing led to him killing five hundred people in a massive fire. With his wife dead and gone forever, Kiri cracked, unable to hold up the ruthless facade. He frantically searched for survivors, finally finding young Shirou. He adopted the boy as his own and instilled into him the ideals of being a hero of justice except this time, he taught the boy that he must save everyone. No one should be killed. He tried multiple times to go back to his daughter but his enfeebled body prevented him from penetrating the Einzbern estates as they now considered him an enemy.

At the end of his life, he had rejected himself and became a new person. One who would change the world in a better way and pass on those ideals to his child, who took them all in. He was a quiet, serious man who didn't speak in vain and never wasted a drop of energy. In some ways, his training never left him but he always had a smile on his face for his son, Shirou. Even so, the ruthless man from the past still lingers inside him, waiting for the next time someone he loves is in danger but it will always be held in check by the losses he suffered in his life.

Beyond that, Kiri has always been reluctant to engage in disputes with others. The biggest example is his refusal to speak with his Servant, Saber. The two have such clashing ideals that he preferred to not share his thoughts with her and instead, opted to not speak with her at all. If it were not for Irisviel, Saber admittedly said that she would try to kill Kiri for his messed up view on how to be a hero. He is also very good at deciding what a person’s potential is and how far they will go. This has helped him considerably in the past when it comes to judging who makes a dangerous foe and honestly hasn’t led him astray.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Kiri’s biggest strength is his ability to plan properly. He analyzes all aspects of a situation and makes the best possible choices available. He also stands by his own actions, even if he may later regret them. His concern for his wife and children both also drive him to exceed where he may have failed in the first place. Also, because of the strong will he possesses, he survived being put through the worst possible torture known to man.

On the other hand, Kiri has an extremely hard time articulating things he wishes to say. Because of that, he often times chooses not to speak at all, which causes others to have the wrong impression. Also, if Kiri believes that something is pointless, he will completely pass up on doing it because failure is not a word he wants to possess in his dictionary. Choosing to be more efficient often times leads Kiri down an emotional path that he doesn’t want to be on, making it a definite personality flaw. One last weakness he has is his body. Corrupted by the Holy Grail, it became frail and weak and eventually led to his death.

Samples
(Please note that both samples must take place in Route_29’s setting.)

First Person Sample:
[The video feed pops on but it’s dominated by a Sneasel’s face, though Kiritsugu is standing in the background looking over her.]

...smart little thing, aren’t you? You need to be more careful around this type of thing.

[He plucks the pokégear from the creature’s claws and gives it a look over, refraining from pressing anything unless he’s sure of its purpose.]

Messing with something like this is dangerous. Especially if you’re going to show off to everyone where we are. I guess that means this will be rule number one. Don’t mess with the equipment without permission.

Since it’s just you and me right now, I will cut you a little slack. For the time being, we need to find Shirou. He’d probably at home but it won’t hurt to ask.

[Even though it seems he’s speaking with his new companion, he is silently directing the question to anyone listening.]

Third Person Sample:
He stared at the small creature in front of him. And it stared back at him. Kiritsugu was a bit befuddled by the black animal as it looked up at him. Finally, it gave him a sly grin and spoke up, it’s voice practically stuffed full of smugness.

“Sneeeeasel.”

Rather than respond vocally to the thing, Kiri pulled a spare cigarette out of one pocket and a lighter out of the other. Lighting up the end of the cigarette, he stuck it in his mouth and chewed a little on the filter, the smoke crawling up past his face. It was still staring at him. What, was he supposed to be the thing’s new owner? He didn’t remember agreeing to take on a new pet, much less one that spoke a weird language.

Opening up the Pokegear that came with this creature, he was finally greeted with a message and then a description of the thing in front of him.

Oh...so it wasn’t speaking. It was saying its name and it was a girl. That made things a little simpler for Kiritsugu but this was still a questionable situation. It was too bad he didn’t have any proper equipment and was low on information. More valuable than gold but easier to get, it was information that he lacked. That meant it was time to do some scouting but he didn’t really want to put the creature back into that thing it came out of.

Blowing out a lungful of smoke, he spent some time thinking before he settled on a decision. He opened up his trench coat as a silent offer for the....Sneasel....to climb up and hang onto his side. The pokémon, being more of the stealthy, ninja type answered favorably. She hopped onto his side and clung to his clothing with its long claws. Then it clawed around him, under the coat, before popping its head up beside Kiri’s.

“Heh. So that’s the kind of thing you are? I think I’ve come up with a name for you. Maiya is what I’ll call you.”

Repacking everything that he had removed, he zipped it all up and slung it over one shoulder. If there was something else he had to do while he was here, he would find out. He also needed to make sure Shirou was okay. If the boy had gotten hurt or kidnapped while he was out, he would be sure to find out who the perpetrator was and take care of them.

application, ooc
