Year in Review

It's kind of sad that I only had to go down 10 posts to find this....but here goes.

End of Year Review

-The Year 2009 in Review-

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
-Graduated again.
-Put down Laminate flooring
-Renovated the kitchen
-Made learning a dead language my number one priority
-shelved books for pay instead of barter
-Went to New York City,
-Learned how to work power tools
-See a chiropractor
-Visit every tourist thing in Niagara Falls
-Go to an 80s party
-Had a heck of a lot of fun, at least in the past few months.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My resolution last year was to balance my time better and not to go insane with work at the last minute. It didn't work, I seem to have an inability to get anything done without the pressure of imminent deadline. It's rather sad. For next year, I'm hoping to work on that yet again, because it's a really bad habit I need to break, but I'm also going to resolve to relax and have fun - this is the one year that I can do it.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My cousin Billy fathered a child again. Different mother this time. I believe it was a baby girl but I'm not sure because I, once again, haven't even seen the baby.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My Grandmother's best friend died. She was a good friend of the family for many years and she will be missed by us all.

5. What countries did you visit?
US. New York City, baby!

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
A plan for life would be nice. At least some concept of what I'm going to be doing.

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Christmas again. Crazy Busy-ness and Renovation insanity.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Finishing school and working full time at the same time. It nearly killed me, I kid you not. And the fact that I pulled my historiography grad out of the gutter at the last minute.

9. What was your biggest failure?
I'd rather not say...it's still stinging, sadly.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had to visit a chiropractor over the summer because I twisted my back up but good. Also, I messed up some shoulder tendons a couple days ago because I sanded for 6 hours straight.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
These pretty black boots that I love of so much (note, I haven't spent the chapters gift cards yet, so this might change)

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I can't believe I'm saying this - but Stephen Harper playing the piano was pretty cool and unexpected. I can't really think of any one else at the moment.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
I'm sticking with the staunch conservatives in my social groupings, they're still as staunch and it's still as depressing.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Christmas presents.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Susan came home from England to stay! and my friends are joining me at university! and since I'm not really a real student, I can relax a lot more.

16. What song will always remind you of 2009?
20 years - Placebo

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder?
sadder, I was pretty ecstatic last year - on the other hand I'm more content this year. I'm not as happy, but I'm stable and content. I like my life.
ii. thinner or fatter? no clue
iii. richer or poorer? way poorer

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
creative writing. It's something I enjoy that I let slide in the business.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Playing on the computer instead of doing homework.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
cleaning, finishing the new floors and completely remodeling the kitchen. Gran was here, and we hosted one brother on Christmas, the other on boxing day. All in all, a very busy year.

21. Did you fall in love in 2009?
No, not really.

22. How many one-night stands?
None.

23. What was your favorite TV program?
Probably the Daily show, I watch it most consistently. But I've also enjoyed Merlin, Glee was fun, House is still great-I got all teary eyed during the premier, and I've been watching United states of Tara on the internet recently.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I try not to hate people, it takes way too much emotional energy.

25. What was the best book you read?
A whole book I've read? Hmm...I haven't been much on the reading lately(which is sad because I love reading)...Oh! Geoffrey of Monmouth's History of the Kings of Britain. Lots of fun stories in there.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I'm blanking, I got nothing.

27. What did you want and get?
a purse.

28. What did you want and not get?
toys/

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
of this year...I rather liked the Sherlock Holmes movie.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
For this year I believe I had lunch with my great aunts. The about a week later, Nikki brought be cake and my mom brought us to a production of Little shop of Horrors. It was rather good quality for an amateur cast.

31.Whats one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If I'd stuck to my planned schedule instead of letting everything pile up.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Semi-casual, comfortable.

33. What kept you sane?
Music, good friends, the hope that this too shall pass.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Robert Downy Jr made a good showing this year...Though that may be because he was in the most recent movie I saw.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Still laughing quite a bit about American politics, but I don't think any particular issue 'stirred' me to any degree.

36. Who did you miss?
I miss my dad, I never really see him anymore.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
Lynsey Wilson, the new girl at work. She's an amazing person who fit in very well from day one.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009.
to spell check this list before posting, you wouldn't believe how many errors I've found when I went through last years version.

Alright, serious life lesson...hmm - sometimes life throws you a curve, and you don't end up where you expected to be...but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year..
I feel stressed out
I wanna let it go
Lets go way out spaced out
and losing all control

All in all, I'm happy with this year. Hopefully next year will be just as enjoyable.

Happy New Years!
