[Typical. Considering how infrequent Graham's updates have been over the past six months, I'm sure at least some of you had guessed this time would come. I took over Graham in June of 2004 and while I didn't always take him in the direction I was hoping to, I'm happy with the two and a half years I've spent here at Must Be Pop. I just don't know what to do with him anymore. Many of Graham's close friends have gone and, honestly, I haven't been following him as religiously these days. I assumed this feeling would shake off as it used to, I hoped it would, but it's been several months and he's done next to nothing here. Anyway, it's not the community - it's the character. My interest in roleplaying and writing hasn't faded any, but my interest in this role has and I feel like it's time to close this chapter.
Leaving MBP shouldn't be as emotional for me as it is. After all, two and a half years is a long time but a handful of people here have been around since the beginning. I wasn't even around when Blur were everywhere, hosting awards, having sex with everyone, you know... all the important stuff. I can hardly include myself in that wave of players but I loved having the chance to interact with Alex, Damon and Dave (when he was around). I suppose it's that, for awhile there, Graham was a very emotionally real character for me. He wasn't a joke character and writing him could be really frustrating at times. I want to thank everyone who has ever put up with this weirdo, especially the following: Alex James, Charlotte Hatherley, Damon Albarn, Hana Soukupova, Jonny Greenwood, Justine Frischmann, Karen Elson, Kelly MacDonald... the list could go on, these are just the people he was closest to and/or spoke with most often. I've come across a lot of brilliant people and journals here but I won't write out that list for fear of forgetting someone. Basically, thank you to everyone except the person who left me a nasty anonymous comment within my first week here. That one can suck it, but you're troopers and you're what has made MBP the fucking institution it is today.
I'm not choosing a replacement but I hope that anyone who decides to take on Graham will treat the man with respect. I don't have any other roles here so if anyone is interested in keeping in touch, just drop a note. Cheers, my beauties.]
