When people started talking about how in the future, we'll just download plans for the things we want to buy, then print them ourselves, I used to think "nah, we'll never get to that stage". But after seeing the Z Corp rapid prototyping machines, we may be a lot closer than I originally thought!
Business idea based on these machines: Create a software program for building your own action figures, including pre-made joints and simple lego-like construction, and make it as easy to use as CoH's hero creator. You could build your own characters, have animations and poses available for using as avatars and the like, etc. But the big feature would be that you could order a unique 3D version of your figure! Maybe even have a network where you could sell your creation so other people could buy a copy.
