The start of something
This is the day that science finally admits that it has failed to save the world. Today the newspaper headlines shout Science Conceedes! with pictures of men in labcoats and thick frames hanging their heads, tears collecting on the glass. They are seen in the streets holding onto each other, throwing down their compasses and their calculators, shaking hands with the man wearing 'The End is Nigh' sign and saying 'We were wrong, you are right.' Psychologists are walking into bars they don't know for the purpose of picking fights with dimwitted thugs by telling them exactly what is wrong with their lives. But today the thugs don't fight back, or at least not with their fists. They just scoff and say 'what is that? Science?" and turn away. The psychologists begin buying shots and, hours later, sneak out of the bar without paying the tab.
