Vision issues

So, while I was taking my day to sleep in, Turbo got into my contact case in the bathroom. Found one of my rigid gas-permeables.

Fortunately, I have a few strips of disposable soft lenses so I wasn't walking around totally blind begging for a headache, because Turbo and Daddy (in an attempt to repair) broke my glasses last summer. Aside from the obvious nuisance value, this is a problem in additional ways. I need a new exam, because of weaning. However, I weaned not quite a month ago and I should really wait 2-3 months, depending on who you ask, to be sure all the hormone related changes are fully reversed. I was planning to wait three months and get evaluated for lasik surgery before spending the money on a new set of contacts and new glasses. I can NOT do that, because my eyes can do max five days before wearing the soft contacts and glasses in combination before the soft contacts stop correcting my vision to anything useful. This is because my rigid lenses are fit for Vision Therapy, i.e. they are deliberately mis-fit to force my eyes to adapt and improve. I am still wearing the fit/prescription from ten years ago done by a specialist in Vision Therapy in DC. I did try finding someone in NC to do it when I first moved down here - that was such a disaster that they called up to DC for my old fit and used that. The next time I drove up to DC to see my specialist there and then found someone here who did not try to tinker with what worked as long as my vision stayed 20/20 or better. Then he managed to tweak with two pairs being returned the last time, but part of that was the whole hormonal-lactating issue and my eyes actually changing between tweaks, so I've been living with not-perfect fit for the last year.

What this boils down to is that my sister, who is in DC, will be calling the specialist's office (not the same lady who is retired, but someone she trained and who has been seeing my sister) for referral attempt here in NC. If there's no luck with that, I may be spending money I don't have in the budget to get up there this week and see new specialist dude. Plus me going over the bathroom one more time in non-existent hopes that the missing lens isn't actually down the drain.
