It doesn't seem as though I should be but I am.
In fact, I've been feeling pretty exhausted for the last two or so weeks.
Not quite sure what's going on there.
Anyway...
(Yeah, bullet points again. Sorry)
* Foundation has proved to be somewhat disappointing. It feels rushed and the characters are never developed. In fact, more than anything, it feels a lot like a book's worth of thematically linked short stories. Has anyone else read it? Or the entire trilogy? Or any of Asimov's other novels? I really don't know whether this indicates that, for me at least, Asimov is a far more talented short story writer than novel writer or whether I just picked the wrong novel. It's considered to be a classic, though, and groundbreaking in its time. So I don't know.
* This weekend has included clearing everything out of the kitchen and cleaning it (to be finished at about 7 o'clock tomorrow morning), in preparation for the arrival of the plumbers tomorrow morning, to start work on giving us a functioning oven. After that, on Wednesday probably, they'll be moving on to the bathroom, to give us a working toilet and bath. It'll mean several days of inconvenience but then I'll be able to bake bread! And roast things! And flush the damned toilet and have stuff actually disappear! And stop worrying that one day the weird green-hued degradation of the metal in the plughole of the shower is going to rise up and attack me...
* I've also recently discovered Benjamin Lacombe, after buying The Boy With the Cuckoo-clock Heart, as he illustrated the cover (which you can see in my current icon). I'd love to get some more of his work, despite the fact that he is responsible for producing some of the most disturbing Alice in Wonderland imagery I've ever seen.

* I think that's all for now. I can hear the bed calling me. Also the two books I may or may not have given in to, in the bookshop yesterday. (Sophie's World and The Little Prince, in case you're wondering).
Erm. Yes. Bed.
Have a good day or night, all.
