A serious note - thoughts and prayers please

Nov 30, 2008 22:04

Before I get into it, let me just say that I posted the last chapters to Persistence today. It's done and it only took me 25 chapters to do it.

On a much much more serious note...

This morning my uncle Paul passed out while driving and was in a car accident. My cousin's daughter (Paul's grandchild) was in the car too but she's completely okay (THANK GOD). He had bleeding on the brain and was first being air lifted to Fargo (he lives in Fergus Falls, MN). Two hours later Amelia told me that they were instead going to air lift him to the twin cities. This is big stuff because they seem to send the hardcore stuff to the cities. I didn't hear any more updates until I talked to Angela this evening.

She spoke with Paul's daughter-in-law (my cousin's wife) Kelly, and she reported that Paul is now at the University of Fairview hospital. They are going to put a stint in his head to relieve the swelling and, right now, it looks like it's going to be a long night. All we know otherwise is that he's in the ICU waiting for surgery. My cousin Chris will not leave the hospital until they let him see Paul.

The emotional effect of all of this isn't hitting me until now because I'm tearing up as I write this. This must be so difficult for my cousins, my mom, and my grandma. If it were one of my brothers I would be bawling right away. I still remember Albert's big car accident and I still remember seeing him the next morning before they took him to Fargo. Our family has been so damn lucky.

Please, keep my uncle in your thoughts and prayers.
