yey for gentoo kernel
so yes i did it i sucessfully compiled a gento kernal... its massively cool... now i just gotta star tweeking config files till it works how i want it to.... (mouse scroll)(mapping network shares to my windows 2k box)(install irc clients)(configure mail clients)(setup alarm clock)(compile some games)(fix this stupid browsers text size)(add user other than ROOT!!!)(change them)(emerge kde instead of gnome)(emerge kde utils)(tweak gui) which most people would bitch about, but hey on a default install of windows xp it takes me atleast 3 hours to get things the way i want, the best part once i have it set i won't have to muck with it too much when i decide to do different things...
also i now know basic c++ which i know isnt' very impressive to most, but i've been wanting to learn but unable to locate resources for it FOREVER, also i know know basic perl aswell, soon i'll get into python but i want to get better at c++ and i also want to learn more about network security... but yeah reading is cool specially when they are books that the company pays for.. :)
