Late night Sunday, I stumbled onto this website, searching for more information about Orson Scott Card's "Ender" series of books.
http://www.ornery.org/essays/warwatch/index.html This is a weekly column written by Orson Scott Card called World Watch, on The Ornery American website. Orson Scott Card is a hardcore right-wing republican conservative, guy. Woah....
Apparently he's also a "rabid fascist asshat" according to some random guy from some random forum. That's how I got started poking around the internet and stumbled onto this weekly column.
The first article I actually read was his "The Riots of the Faithful" article, circa May 15 2005 (cause I stumbled onto that article first, not the actual directory of articles.) Card rants about the media's response to American interrogators flushing Qurans down the toilet in order to get Muslim prisoners to talk, and the rioting and death all over the Muslim world. I can understand and agree with some of his views, and I can kinda see how those hating Card's columns and views (Or his person in general) could go so far as to label him a fascist asshat. I don't believe he is one though. Besides I like Ender's Game too much ^_^
I've found his writing to be pretty good. Card gets his points across, err, pretty well I think, all of them supported and well founded. He makes himself clear. It's just so different from what I'm used to in Ender's Game, in that he writes like he's an old guy yelling, "Damn kids get off my lawn!" At least in this particular article, Card writes pretty angrily.
It's pretty interesting. I think I'll read more.
Though he should give Star Wars Episode III a break. That's just silly :-P
