Four Years

May 22, 2005 01:15

Recovering from a mild cold. I just finished an 8 1/2 hour shift, hanging tags at Tops. It felt weird taking a break every two hours to drain the fluid out of my nose, but such is the way of things for the time being.

I came home to find my car all fixed. All four wheels attached to the frame and everything. (Aparrently it still needs 'bearings', which my dad has told me will be picked up tomorrow. I think i'll inquire on what exactly they are and what they do then) I was dumbfounded for a couple of minutes just staring at her, before I cut the engine of my mom's car and went inside.

even with the nasty dent, The car still looks nice. It'll be nice to drive her again. Not having to wake up at 6 in the morning every day to drive my mom to work so that I could have a car to drive during the day. To be free and be able to go wherever I want, whenever. I couldn't imagine living as a commuting student any other way.

I'll be graduating with my associates degree in Optical Systems Technology..err this month, pending one last exam.

I just recently met with advisors from RIT to go over options as to how and when to take classes. In short, because of changes in RIT's curriculum (in the specific department that I'd be joining), It'll take me four years, to complete a bachelors degree there.

I think the best thing for me to do at this point (after talking it over with my parents and siblings) is to look for a job in my field, while there's still a summer. I'll be enrolling again into MCC, as a non-matriculated student, to take more courses to fulfill the prerequisites I need to take the second year courses at RIT, if I choose to go there in the fall of 2006. I'll take care of all of my general elective courses at MCC and be better prepared for RIT if I still want to go by then. I'd have an edge then.

In the meantime, hopefully I'll have some real world experience as well. four more years of college, added with the four years I've already spent, doesn't sound so bad if I have a decent job to back me up.

Tim's birthday came and went. I think I'm getting alot better about remembering stuff like this, but not alot though ^_^ I got him the Clone Wars volume 1 DVD, seeing as I think we've both been going star wars crazy as of late. The family went to dinner and we watched Episode III afterwards. It was absolutely beautiful. The emotional impact of the fall of the jedi, done perfectly. The dialog has been really improved too, they did a much better job this time. It never comes off as being too corny, like it does in the previous movies.

Lu Ann and I also went to the Lilac festival that day too. I think we needed it, with all of the stuff going on with the both of us. I think we've been going alright for ourselves though... I think I'm happy enough. Happiest I've been in a long time. It's like she just turned on a light inside my head and now I'm free to do anything. all this work that I've been doing this past semester, working at tops, dealing with everyday, has been a relative breeze. And it's all because of her. Life is awesome and everything tastes better, because of her.

I've never actually been to it before so it was all new to me. I never expected it to be so pretty. It felt like being in Watkins Glen all over again, only this time I was with Lu Ann. The gardens were definately the best part of the entire thing. I really need to make it a habit of taking her to nice places like this.
