Luke tucked back the covers and settled into the bed first. His hand came up motioning for Reid to join him. The doctor got into the bed as well. His mouth sought Luke’s again. He’d missed those lips, even though it had been only a few moments. His hands held the younger man’s face, holding him close, guiding their actions.

When he pulled away, his forehead rested against Luke’s. “How do you…” Reid pulled a little further away, so his eyes could meet the younger man. “What do you want, Luke?”

The blonde was dazed. He knew the logistics of gay sex and he just assumed... Luke was scared, but the idea of being in Reid… He hastily shook his head. He knew it would be different from his times with Maddie, but he couldn’t help remember how awkward and uncomfortable he felt. The way his breath would almost choke him until he was grateful the whole experience was over. He didn’t want that with Reid.

The doctor watched the emotions play across Luke’s face. “Are you thinking about Maddie?” he checked, his hand still cupping Luke’s cheek, trying to bring him back to the present, to them.

“I don’t want to,” Luke whispered and shook his head. He felt the tears clog his throat. “I want you. I don’t want anything like… I cared about her,” he insisted.

“I know,” Reid assured him. He didn’t want her in this bed with them, but everything in Luke’s life, and Reid’s as well, was leading up to this moment. Reid couldn’t ignore Luke’s past any more than he expected the blonde to forget his.

“But I just…” Luke’s fingers touched Reid’s chest, bounced for a moment, skimming as Luke worked out the words he wanted to say, to explain… “I used her and that’s not what this is about. I want you. I want you in me.”

Both men stilled for a moment.

“Okay, then,” Reid said quietly. He started to kiss Luke again. When he tasted a few stray tears, the redhead pulled away. “Luke…”

“I want you,” he insisted. Luke wanted Reid to be certain, because the younger man was certain of this.

Luke’s hands came up holding onto Reid’s shoulders, and then he tugged so that the redhead landed on top of him. The kisses continued, lips slipping and sliding against each other, Reid’s tongue darted out, begging for entrance. Luke’s mouth opened, welcomed him in, and his fingers ran up Reid’s sides, causing the doctor to shiver. Luke opened his legs, and Reid settled in further.

A few moments later, the older man pulled up slightly. His hands were on the either side of Luke’s head, pressed into the pillow. “If at any time…”

Luke quickly nodded his head. “Not ready to stop, though.” He touched Reid again, running his hand down the doctor’s back, his fingers stilling when they reached the older man’s boxers.

“It’s okay,” Reid assured him. If Luke wanted to wait, Reid would do that.

Luke smiled, because he knew what Reid had meant. Keeping his eyes locked on the doctor’s for a moment, his fingers dipped between Reid’s boxers and his flesh, his fingers skimming over the redhead’s ass, and his finger found Reid’s crack, but Luke still. He felt the uncertainty come back. The younger man’s hand was trapped for a moment, and he quickly pulled away. The elastic snapped against Reid’s back. “S-sorry.”

“No. It’s fine.”

He ground his hips into Luke’s for a moment, and the blonde pulled Reid down for another kiss. Reid’s body settled on top of Luke’s again, the blonde’s hands skittering across Reid’s arms. The doctor started to kiss Luke’s cheek, and he ran his tongue up the length of the blonde’s neck. Luke groaned in pleasure, and Reid did it again. He started to work his way down the younger man’s chest, kissing, licking, and biting along the way. Reid stilled when he reached Luke’s boxers. The older man leaned back on his haunches, staring at Luke’s body, taking in each inch, the chest hair that always taunted him, the transplant scar on his side, the dimples in Luke’s smile. The smile compelled Reid to continue. His gaze locked with Luke’s, and his fingers hooked into the waist of the young man’s boxers. Without breaking the look, Reid tugged, and Luke lifted his hips to allow Reid to take off his underwear. He tossed it over his shoulder and then took off his own.

Reid looked back at Luke, his eyes zeroing in on the large, leaking cock resting against Luke’s stomach. He swallowed thickly, dying to taste Luke.

Seeing the heated look in Reid’s gaze, Luke smiled and a blush worked its way through his whole body. The younger man’s eyes traveled down Reid’s face to his neck and chest. He loved the smooth skin. He pulled his lip into his mouth, remembering the taste of Reid’s skin. Luke followed the trail of hair and his eyes widened slightly. “You’re so…” He nervously swallowed. “Big,” he finished on a whisper.

The redhead swallowed his grin. “Luke, remember if…” Reid glanced down and saw Luke’s erection had flattened a little. The doctor leaned over him, and started to run his fingers up and down Luke’s thighs, his nails scraping against the skin, going up, dipping between his legs but never going as far as either man wanted. Luke shifted a little, trying to get Reid to touch more of him.

With one more meeting of their eyes, Reid leaned over and kissed the tip of Luke’s cock. The blonde jumped and Reid fell on his side next to the blonde.

“S-sorry,” Luke said. “I’ve never… Sorry.” His hands came up to cover his face, but his shame heated his skin all over.

Reid chuckled. “I know you’ve never…but you won’t be able to say that for long.”

Luke pulled his hands away. His eyes tentatively sought and found Reid’s. Needing the assurance, Luke grabbed the doctor’s left hand. Reid smiled and leaned over Luke again. The blonde had a tight grip on Reid, but the redhead wasn’t going to be deterred this time. He took Luke into his mouth, just the tip at first. Small kisses and gentle licks against the sensitive skin. His tongue flattened, and he licked the underside of Luke’s cock. The blonde’s breath came out in heavy pants and he tried desperately to hold still. Reid’s hand was starting to hurt because of the death grip, but he took Luke even deeper. The blonde’s body stilled, and Reid’s tugged his hand loose. He wiggled his fingers for a moment and then his hand went around the base of Luke’s cock. Reid went back for more, bobbing up and down Luke’s cock. The young man moaned, his voice echoing around the room, and he shifted his hips up higher, trying to get more of himself into Reid’s mouth. Smiling around the younger man’s cock, Reid used both of his hands to hold Luke in place. He hollowed his cheeks and took the blonde as deep as he could. The tip of Luke’s cock hitting the back of his throat.

“R-R-R-Reid!” Luke’s voice rang clear throughout the room. Reid assumed that was Luke’s way of warning him, but the redhead didn’t care. “Reid!” Luke shouted once more and then came down the doctor’s throat.

Luke’s heart was pounding and he had to close his eyes. Slowly he felt his soul return to his body.

Reid moved, so he could lay next to Luke, letting the younger man recover. Luke felt Reid’s erection and he knew he needed to do something, return the favor.

“Mr. Snyder?” Reid’s voice is strained, but Luke can hear the concern.

Luke smiled, and his head turned toward the voice. Reid was on his side, his arm bent at the elbow and his head rested against the palm of his hand.

“Thank you,” Luke murmured and leaned over to kiss Reid. He tasted himself on the doctor’s lips and he wanted to pull away. Reid wouldn’t let him, though, and Luke let out a squeak of surprise. Reid used it to his advantage, and his tongue slipped past Luke’s mouth. The younger man reached between them, his fingers skimmed across Reid’s cock.

“No,” Reid pulled away. “I want to be in you when I come.”

Luke’s eyes widened, and his fingers ached for Reid. He knew that if he still was not ready Reid would respect his wishes, but… Luke’s hands come up, and he cupped Reid’s face in his hands.

It was just the two of them in the room. Luke had tried to bring Maddie there, but the ghost of the past, the ghosts of his regrets disappeared quickly. And Luke knew that no matter what, it had always just been about them-arguments about plans, meetings with investors, the first time they met-it had always been just like this: Luke and Reid.

The blonde nodded his head. “What are you waiting for?” he asked

“Are you sure?” Reid checked.

“I want you in me,” Luke repeated his statement from before.

It was a fact.

The moment of truth was upon them.

No rhyme. No reason. Luke couldn’t ever figure out why Reid made him feel the way he did. It never made sense. No one made him angrier, more flustered, or wanted than Reid Oliver.

Luke knew he should have been scared. He was falling in love. He was probably already there. He couldn’t tell Reid, not yet, but he could show him. Luke took the bottle of lube and handed it to Reid.

The doctor nodded his head and quickly opened the cap. He coated his finger and moved Luke’s legs. They felt like jelly, the orgasm still humming throughout his body. Luke was grateful, because he worried he’d try to push Reid away again. Reid’s finger hovered around Luke’s ass for a moment; he leaned over and started to kiss the younger man, trying to get him to focus on the pleasure. Luke returned the kiss, drawing his attention to Reid’s mouth and all the things it did to him, the way it used to annoy him, the taunts, the teases, the gasps of pleasure.

Luke wasn’t the only one affected. Reid kept his hand from getting too close; he started to kiss down Luke’s body. He wanted to taste Luke again. The blonde’s cock had fattened up and both men wondered if it had ever gone soft. Reid nuzzled Luke’s balls, and then his mouth opened; taking one of them in his mouth, his tongue worked on it before moving on to the other. Luke did his best to hold still, but Reid’s mouth was too much. He started to gasp and shift, and Reid had to press his hand into Luke’s stomach. He appreciated how responsive Luke was, but Reid’s balls were killing him. He was going to come against the mattress if Luke didn’t still. Reid moved lower, and his tongue darted out, slipping into Luke’s hole. The young man stilled, trying to adjust. He felt a little awkward, almost ashamed, but the doctor’s tongue worked in and out, and Luke started to relax. Reid pulled away and put his lubed finger in. The saliva had helped to ease Reid’s passage, and he sought Luke’s prostate.

The blonde jerked, and Reid knew he was successful. He added a second finger, moving in and out, widening the passage, constantly seeking the nub. He took his time, letting Luke’s body adjust to him.

“R-R-R-Reid… p-p-p-p-lease…” Luke could barely get the words out.

Pulling out Reid’s gaze met Luke’s. “Are you ready?”

Luke jerkily nodded his head. He tried to figure out where they’d dropped the condom; Reid looked around the room, growing more frantic. But then Luke’s hand came up, showing the redhead the packet. Their eyes met again, and Reid held Luke’s gaze as he ripped it open. Then Luke’s eyes traveled down Reid’s body, his tongue coming out to wet his lips. His gaze locked on Reid’s cock, and the doctor saw the concern again.

Quickly putting the condom on, Reid opened Luke’s legs; again he ran his fingers up and down Luke’s thighs, slowly working toward Luke’s cock but never touching it. The blonde’s hips lifted up, seeking a release. Taking his right hand, Reid slipped a couple of fingers into Luke’s ass. The blonde gladly welcomed him.

“No. You. More than that. Need you,” Luke tried to explain what he wanted, but Reid knew.

Keeping his eyes locked on the younger man Reid lined himself up. Luke tried to shove further down on the bed, and Reid pulled away. “Don’t rush. Don’t want to hurt you.”

“Need you,” Luke whined.

Nodding his head, Reid slowly inched his way in. His eyes locked with Luke’s, and Reid paused a few times-whenever the younger man’s gaze wavered. Luke felt the stretch, and there was pain, but he welcomed it. Reid took his time. “Breathe,” he commanded, and the blonde let out a few gasps, taking more of Reid in.

Finally, Reid was all the way in, and both men stilled. Reid tried to hold Luke’s gaze but the blonde’s eyes fluttered shut. Reid slowly pulled out and pushed back in, taking shallow turns at first. Reid took his time, letting the younger man adjust even though it was torture for Reid. He’d been ready to come about three times already, and the tight clench around his cock was overwhelming. The only thing stopping him was his fear of hurting Luke.

Slowly the blonde’s eyes opened and he smiled up at Reid. The pain had given way. Reid started to move faster, his hips jerking, hitting Luke’s prostate. The younger man leaned up to meet Reid’s thrust, and the redhead’s tempo fell off for a few moments. Luke tugged on Reid, pulling him down and kissing him. The redhead did his best, but he couldn’t last much longer. He reached between them, gripping Luke’s cock, jerking him with the tempo of his thrusts. Reid slowed a little. He wanted this to last, but Luke pulled away with a moan and fell back onto the bed, clenching tightly around Reid. The doctor came with a shout, and Luke quickly followed. Reid collapsed on top of the younger man, still deep inside, not sure where he stopped and Luke began.

Reid slowly pulled out, and Luke groaned his disappointment. The older man’s heart was pounding, and with shaky hands he pulled off the condom. He tied it off and tossed it toward the trash can. Falling back onto the bed, he reached for Luke. The younger man settled his body around Reid’s, their legs intertwined.

There was so much Reid wanted to say. He’d never experienced an orgasm like that in his life. And despite the promise he’d made to himself that it wouldn’t be perfect, somehow, it had been. Luke had been right. Everything about their time together was right. He just hoped Luke would agree, and he was afraid to ask.

Luke’s fingers skimmed and skipped across Reid’s chest, drawing lazy circles. “Was that…” He nuzzled his head into Reid’s chest. “Sorry, I’m not… I mean was it…

“Amazing,” Reid assured him. He pressed a kiss to the crown on Luke’s head.

“Yeah?”

“It was us. How could it not?”

Luke chuckled. “Yeah.” He turned so his chin rested against Reid’s chest. “Thank you. For being my first.”

Reid wanted to demand that he was Luke’s last as well. His heart rate, which had finally returned to normal, beat erratically against his ribcage. “Thank you for trusting me,” he murmured instead.

Luke shifted and kissed Reid. After a moment, Luke leaned back down. There were still words that needed to be said, but the younger man’s eyes felt heavy, and sleep soon claimed them both.

*

When the men woke up, Luke continued to let Reid show him all the things he’d been missing. The young man was an eager pupil, and during one heated exchanged, with Luke’s cock deep down Reid’s throat and three of Reid’s fingers deep in the younger man’s ass, the blonde said, “I love you” right before he came.

When both men recovered, Luke wouldn’t look at Reid, and as soon as he was able to move, made a quick retreat to the bathroom. Reid didn’t even hesitate before he followed him. Luke was in the shower, and the older man pulled back the curtain.

“I love you,” he said before getting in and grabbing a bar of soap.

Luke turned, the water raining down on them and his eyes blinking rapidly. “What?”

Reid sighed and took the bar of soap, running it across Luke’s chest, wiping away their come. “I hate that you still run away. At first, I got it, I mean…” Reid’s hand dipped lower and his gaze met Luke’s. “I didn’t know that you weren’t out yet, but when I realized it… I get that you’re scared. I don’t do scared, Luke. But that was before you.” He turned the younger man around and started to soap his back.

Luke’s hand slipped against the wall and he bent his head down, the water beating against his neck. Reid’s hands stilled, and he put the soap back. The doctor wrapped his arm around Luke’s waist, his erection pressing into Luke’s ass and the younger man groaned.

“I love you, Luke,” he said. His breath and the water hitting his ear. “Stop running away from me and let me love you.”

Luke turned in the cocoon of Reid’s arms and kissed him. The water continued to beat down on them and Luke’s hand slipped between their bodies. He grabbed Reid’s cock. “Condoms?” he checked.

“Other room,” Reid ground out, shifting his hips closer.

The younger man nodded his head in understanding. “Love you,” he said, and using the water as a lubricant, his hand slipped up and down Reid’s cock. His thumb pressing against the sensitive tip, and his grip tightened slightly on each downward sweep. “Love you,” Luke murmured, with each swipe he repeated the declaration.

Reid held back, listening to Luke’s voice, broken in need but still full of emotion, the insistent desire of Luke’s hand pushing Reid over the edge. The redhead watched his come swirl down the drain around them. Once the older man could speak again, he assured the younger man, “I love you, Luke Snyder.”

*

Six months later…

Reid never considered himself a generally happy person. Six months of mind blowing sex. An incredible boyfriend, friends even-one was under a year old, but Jacob was still a better conversationalist than some of the staff at Memorial. Even Luke’s family was starting to warm up to him. His father didn’t constantly look like he wanted to bury Reid in a cornfield, and Lily finally stopped acting as though he was “Chester the Molester.” He even started to like the rugrats Luke claimed to be his siblings.

The Snyder Pavilion had been open a month, and almost every inch of space met his approval. His staff was hand-picked.

Yes, it was with a surprising amount of certainty that Reid Oliver could call himself happy. There were still a few bumps, explaining to Bob his relationship with Luke… well, that could have gone worse, he supposed.

“You, Dr. Oliver, are brilliant,” Luke teased, his hands were resting on Reid’s shoulders.

They had finally agreed on the last change with their architect, Matt. The man couldn’t understand the difference between the two men. In the last month, they didn’t nearly disagree as much as they did when Matt was first assigned. The spark between them, the looks that lingered, a laugh at something completely inappropriate, all of that was still there. Matt, didn’t care, actually, it started to make his life simpler. As long as the sex was still good between them, his work would be much easier.

Walking out of Reid’s office, he ran into the third man who generally joined them, Dr. Hughes, the chief of staff. “Hello, Matthew,” the older man greeted him.

Matt hid a smile, only his grandmother still called him that. “Hello, Dr. Hughes.”

“Are those the latest plans?” the doctor asked.

The architect nodded his head. “Yes, and the guys were actually in agreement. I think this was the easiest meeting yet.” Matt chuckled. “I should have known the way they argued was just a cover, but...” He shrugged. “Well, I’m happy for Luke and Dr. Oliver. They work, you know?” Matt offered one last smile before heading back to his office.

Dr. Hughes stood for a moment, letting the architect’s words sink in. He knew Reid was gay, but Luke… Reid and Luke? The man shook his head and briefly tapped on Reid’s door. Without waiting for a response, he walked in.

Now he understood what Matt was referring to.

Reid was leaning back on his desk, his arms wrapped around Luke, and the men were sharing an intense kiss.

Bob cleared his throat, and when neither man made a move to separate, he slammed the door shut behind him. “Excuse me.”

Luke jumped, his face bright red. He couldn’t meet Bob’s gaze. “I-I should go.”

Reid’s hand reached for Luke but the younger man tugged free. Reid didn’t want Luke to run away from him any more. But he could feel the tension rolling off the blonde in waves. “Luke.”

He tossed a scared look over his shoulder and tugged his hand loose. “Really.”

Reid’s hand pulled Luke back, and he smacked his lips against the younger man’s. “I love you,” he whispered fiercely.

Luke jerkily nodded his head and rushed past Bob. He still couldn’t meet the older man’s gaze.

“Would you care to explain to me what exactly is going on with you and Luke Snyder?” Bob questioned and crossed his arms over his chest.

“With all the kids you have, you still don’t know the birds and the bees?” Reid tossed back. He wasn’t sure when (or if) he was going to tell Bob about his relationship with Luke. He was buying time and mostly he wanted to check on Luke.

“Dr. Oliver…”

“Luke and I are together,” the redhead stated matter-of-factly.

“I see.” Bob wasn’t sure what to make of the situation. He knew the young man through Casey, and as far as Bob was concerned, Luke was straight. Luke’s sexual orientation was actually the least of his concerns. “He is a member of the board.”

“So?”

“There is a note of propriety.”

“Would this be a concern if I was in a relationship with a female member of the board?”

“Yes,” Bob insisted. “Dr. Oliver-”

“No.”

“Excuse me?”

“You’ve been the one lecturing me about having a life outside of the hospital. I have one. I have Luke. And I’m not about to give him up. So whatever lame excuse you’re going to throw at me-”

“Dr. Oliver, it is not a lame excuse. As a member of the board, Luke’s having a relationship with you could be viewed as favoritism.”

Reid snorted. “As someone who has been in nearly all of the meetings regarding this wing, and as one of the votes for any plans I have for the Snyder Pavilion, you should know that the last thing Luke does is bend to my will…” Outside the bedroom, the doctor silently added.

Bob hesitated for a moment. He was genuinely torn. He cared about Reid and Luke and, since Reid had come to Oakdale, the changes had been noticeable. He had become an even better doctor. Bob couldn’t deny that those attributes probably had to do with Luke.

“Any decisions directly related to you and your place at this hospital, Luke must abstain,” Bob noted. “Also, from now on, I want to be kept abreast of all decisions regarding the Pavilion.”

Reid’s tongue darted out for a moment. He was taking his time, not jumping to a response. Luke wouldn’t appreciate it. “Fine, but also, don’t say anything to Luke that would make him uncomfortable. He’s choosing when to tell people he’s gay.”

Bob nodded his head and a smile tugged at his lips. Luke really was a good influence on Reid. He wondered if the other doctor would ever admit it. “All right.” Bob turned toward the door. “Oh, and Dr. Oliver.”

“What?”

“I’m glad you took my advice, and have found someone outside of your work.”

Reid rolled his eyes heavenward. “Well, it’s just because he’s hot.”

Bob refused to be goaded. He just smiled knowingly and walked out.

Luke had been concerned when they’d met again, but Reid had assured him that everything was fine. Slowly Luke was becoming more comfortable sharing his new sexuality with people. From Reid and his family’s support, Luke drew his strength.

“Luke, hi,” Noah greeted his friend.

Luke had come over to see Noah and Richard but had only found Noah.

After the incident in Reid’s office, Luke decided he couldn’t leave anything to chance. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to talk to Noah, but he and Reid were still in the honeymoon stage of their relationship. They found snippets of time whenever they could; the new wing was coming along, and Reid had finally decided to find a place to stay. The fourth time Luke had left in embarrassment, after Katie had caught them making out on the couch-with various pieces of clothing missing-Reid had broken down and began searching for a place. Luke had mentioned that he should probably find a place of his own as well. Reid refused to make-out in Luke’s bedroom. “It’s too much like high school, and I fear your father is going to pull a shotgun on me one of these days.”

Though their relationship was still in the early stages, it felt as though instead of each looking for a place, maybe they should find one just for them. Luke was a little apprehensive. He hadn’t told his closest friends yet. Reid had admitted that Katie was the first person he’d actually lived with. Luke finally decided that he would find a place, and if Reid approved of it, then someday they would live together. Neither man wanted to rush their relationship, and they still were considerate Katie’s feelings. She was getting back to her old self, but Luke still felt the need to take care of her, and that meant Reid.

“Hi, Noah. Is Richard here?”

“Oh, he just went to get some take out from Al’s. Do you want to join us?”

“Uh, no, thanks,” Luke said. He also realized this might work to his advantage. He didn’t want to have a long discussion about his sexuality, but he was grateful to talk to Noah one-on-one. Luke had often spent time with Noah when the other man was coming out, listening and offering support. He knew that Noah would want to return the favor, but for now, Luke was grateful to have Reid.

“I’m meeting Reid later,” Luke finally offered.

“Reid? Dr. Oliver?” Noah checked. “You have to talk about the wing?”

“No, it’s just dinner.” The blonde felt his face flush. “And…I’m gay,” he blurted out.

Noah reeled back for a moment. “What?”

“I didn’t mean to blurt it out like that, but… I’m gay. I’m gay and I’m with Reid. We’re together. We’re in a relationship.” Luke nodded his head and he couldn’t help but smile. It was getting easier to say. And he found himself repeating it, like a parrot.

“Wow. Okay.” There were too many thoughts racing through Noah’s mind. “But you never…when I had all those problems with my dad, is that why you never said anything?”

“No, Noah.” Luke reached out and patted his friend on the arm. “I’ve known, for a long time, but I couldn’t… I hid, and maybe when I saw how bad your dad was to you…but then there was Maddie and I thought…” He shook his head. “It was like my safety. I hate to think that I used her like that, but I just kept so much of that blocked out, pushed it so far down that… And then I met Reid and he…” A smile tugged at Luke’s lips. “He pushed every button I had and a few I didn’t even know about it. He helped me to feel safe enough with myself to admit I’m gay.”

“I actually don’t know what to say,” Noah admitted.

Luke chuckled nervously.

“Guess I can show you the secret handshake now.”

This time Luke’s laugh was genuine.

“And you’re happy? Dr. Oliver makes you happy?” Noah asked the last question slowly, still trying to wrap his mind around Luke and his doctor.

“Yeah. He’s…everything,” Luke admitted.

“Well, then I’m happy for you.” Noah reached and pulled Luke for a hug.

They held each other for a few moments. Luke was relieved to find acceptance. His parents were doing their best, and his dad was always amazing, but Luke always felt that he was somehow a disappointment to them, to the dreams they had for him. They never said anything, but it was a doubt that the young man had kept with him since he first started having feelings for other guys.

When Richard walked in, he found the two men in a hug. “If this was anyone but Luke, I’d be jealous,” he joked.

Luke’s face turned red, and Noah laughed long and hard. “I should go,” Luke finally recovered.

“Yes, tell Reid I said hi,” Noah called after Luke.

“Sure,” the blonde agreed and headed out the door.

“What’s so funny?” Richard asked. He started to pull out their dinner. “And who’s Reid?”

“Dr. Oliver,” Noah informed his boyfriend. “Apparently he and Luke are in a relationship.”

Richard’s hands stilled for a moment. When he had first met Luke, he’d thought the blonde was gay, but then he’d met Luke’s girlfriend, Maddie. There had been some questions over the last couple of years, especially when Luke didn’t seem to have a relationship with anyone. But Luke never expressed any romantic feelings toward Noah, so Richard pushed it aside.

“I told you your doctor’s hot,” Richard noted.

Luke and Reid kept up the pretense of just Luke getting a place. Although he finally settled on a condo in Katie’s neighborhood only after Reid had grudgingly approved of the place. Then they christened all of the rooms twice. Finally, Luke gave up half his closet to Reid. There were extra toothbrushes and, in the last month, Reid officially moved in.

Yes, Reid Oliver was generally happy. The shower sex with Luke that morning definitely added to his glow, but even the memory of Luke’s amazing fingers and talented mouth couldn’t keep Reid happy at the moment.

The doctor did his best to control his voice as he berated the idiot interns assigned to him. He would have to speak to Mr. Snyder about this, because Bob wouldn’t listen. When he’d agreed to come to this town, it was under the impression that he would have final say when it came to the design and running of the best neuro. wing in the country. These sniveling idiots in front of him did not meet the standards. Bob replied they’d need a rotation through neurology, and since they had the best in the country, they couldn’t send them to Bay City. Reid tried to argue, but Bob simply chuckled and walked away. He had found it was the easiest way to deal with Dr. Oliver.

“Just go!” he finally ordered. They scampered away as though the devil were at their heels. “And try not to kill anyone!” he called after the retreating forms.

“Winning friends and influencing people wherever you go, I see, Dr. Oliver.”

Reid turned and tried to not to smile at the young man standing in front of him. He regretted telling Luke that the sight of him in a button-down shirt made him half-hard within seconds. Ever since, the young man always had one on, and the tantalizing view of his chest hair was Reid’s undoing.

“Luke…” his voice was a cross between a whine (the ineptitude of his interns) and a groan (because he couldn’t nip the skin where Luke’s shoulder and chest met).

“What?” the younger man asked, wrapping his arms around the doctor’s waist. He pulled him close and pressed a soft kiss against his mouth. Reid groaned again. He wanted to be angry but Luke slipped his tongue between his lips.

“Before I met you…” Reid tried to argue but his own hands couldn’t help but cup the younger man’s face in his hands. “I had rules. I had order. I didn’t have idiots working for me.”

“You also weren’t in charge of the best neuro. center in the country designed to all of your specifications.”

“Not all,” Reid argued, because even after all this time, it was still the best foreplay of his life. “You had a hand in some of those decisions.”

“And you agreed that some of mine were actual improvements.”

“I don’t remember saying improvements…” Reid grumbled.

“Not completely useless,” Luke acquiesced. “But before coming here, you had no life and no friends.”

The doctor chuckled. “There’s no rhyme nor reason to my life anymore. I’ve gone through the looking glass and fallen down the rabbit hole,” he said, and even after all this time he couldn’t keep the bewilderment out of his voice.

“You fell in love, Dr. Oliver,” the younger man replied reasonably.

Glancing around, making sure none of the idiots had come back and there were no gossiping nurses close at hand, Reid’s hand gently patted against Luke’s cheek. “And rhyme and reason need not apply. I love you, Mr. Snyder.”

“Oh, Dr. Oliver, I’m so crazy in love with you.”
