Callanish is fantastic - the main stones of course but there are also 2 other lots quite nearby and there's a walk between them that takes a couple of hours but is totally worth it (weather permitting, of course, this is the Hebrides we're talking about!). If you're driving then I would also recommend you check out the reconstructed Norse mill and kiln that's just down the road from Callanish, as well as Dun Carloway.

The livestock seem to have an objection to the concept of cars wanting to go anywhere, but if you approach them on foot they tend to leg it.

That sounds like a wonderful vacation and I look forward to the pictures.

I couldn't figure out how to pull my garlic last year, because I fail at planting. I let the lot over winter and got a nice lot of young garlic when I was forced to thin it this year. They were tasty in pasta. It remains to be seen if I manage to get an actual harvest of garlic this year.

It was an unpleasant surprise, that was for certain, so I'm sure his ears were burning by the time I'd finished. The neighbours both sides of me have kids so I had to restrain myself... ;)

Sounds like your vacation was fun and interesting. I would like to have cows that just lie down in the road, if for no other reason than it would make a good excuse for being late to work!

(nothing else to really add...really, this is just a drop-by post to say "hi!")
