what is becoming of our country?

"It allows the government to seize individuals on American soil and detain them indefinitely with no opportunity to challenge their detention in court," Feingold said. "And the new law would permit an individual to be convicted on the basis of coerced testimony and even allow someone convicted under these rules to be put to death."

Um, anyone else feel this new bush bill is scary? Because I do.

A new bill passed this last week allows (and this is the law now) for bush to pick out and detain anyone, anyone, on American soil that he believes is a terrorist or involved with terrorism. It allows him alone to choose. It allows the people chosen to be tortured and held indefinitely; aka, until death. It allows sentencing of the people chosen without a fair trial. It means that if bush chooses, he can make whoever he wants disappear. It means there are no checks and balances with bush's power of detainment and torture, sentencing and death. It means that anyone, without question, can disappear.
