The irony that the phone went off during dinner was not missed on anyone.

They were sitting in the flight control room, the Doctor on the jump seat while the three Companions had pulled chairs in from various rooms in the TARDIS to sit on. They were feasting on take-away from the latest planet they'd visited, a semi-celebration that nothing of any vital importance happened while they were there. Hell, Jack hadn't even died once. Quite the accomplishment.

"If that's a bloody telemarketer..." Donna swore, fork paused halfway to her mouth.

The Doctor chuckled, chewing on his own mouthful, swallowing quickly. "Don't worry, it's not."

"So Doc, when did the phone box get an actual phone?" Jack teased.

The Doctor swung his feet off the console, popping up to his feet and wiping his mouth with the napkin tucked down the front of his shirt. "Since Martha Jones left me her old mobile," the Time Lord said, pushing a button. The phone popped out and he caught it easily, flipping it open with one hand. "Hallo, Martha?"

"WHERE THE HELL IS IANTO JONES?!" The angry -- female -- Welsh voice could clearly be heard by all three Companions, and the Doctor pulled the phone away from his ear, wincing.

"Oh, Dwu," Ianto swore, suddenly going pale.

"... It's such a pity that Tegan couldn't be here again," Broderick Jones said with a sigh. "I mean, I know it's a trip from London, but we're lucky if we see her during the hols."

Jack watched with a smile as his mother-in-law leaned over to kiss her husband's cheek. "She's got important work to do in London."

"Oh, sure. Important work," he griped. "She does accounting work for some firm in London. What's so important that she can't let it sit for just a day?"

"Well," Mike said, looking over at his younger brother and other sister. "We show up every Sunday like clockwork, and all we hear about is how Gan's never here."

"I feel neglected," Nonny agreed, sipping at her coffee.

Ianto just rolled his eyes.

"Who is that?" Donna asked, her face alight with the glee that only comes from getting really good gossip.

"It's -- it's bloody Tegan." Ianto covered his eyes with one hand, holding out the other hand for the mobile.

"And who's that?" the redhead asked, leaning in.

"More importantly, how did you get this number?" the Doctor asked, thumbing the speakerphone option on the mobile.

"I got it from Martha Jones," Tegan's tinny, angry voice came out of the mobile. "Now where the hell is my baby brother?!"

"Ganny, for Christ's sake!" Ianto burst out. His face was now turning a nice shade of red in embarrassment.

"Ianto Jones, I should hunt you down and lump you one! You disappeared off the face of the Earth -- literally -- and haven't contacted ANYONE in the family to let you know where you went!"

"We have been pretty busy," the Doctor defended.

"Don't you start in, space man, I'm not scared of you!"

Jack frowned at Ianto, studying him. Something was .. off about this whole thing. Tegan knew a little too much for a civilian.

"Oi, you called us!"

"And you kidnapped my brother! Meaning I had to go back to Cardiff to do his bloody work because he and that Captain just swanned off -- "

"Oh my God," Jack said, gaze snapping over to Ianto and cutting off his sister's rant. "Your sister works for Torchwood and you didn't tell me?"

"She started out as an accountant in London, for one of Torchwood's cover branches."

Jack cocked his head to the side, watching Ianto from his place in the middle of the bed. Ianto, meanwhile, was standing in front of the window to their most recent lodgings, looking down on an alien city dressed in nothing but his boxers and the slender gold chain around his neck. "And they recruited her from there." It wasn't a question; they both knew London's old procedures.

Ianto nodded, not turning around to look at Jack. "She's clever," he replied with a shrug. "She uncovered a discrepancy in the books, found out where the money was really going, landed a job with Torchwood. Ended up as a field agent." He finally looked over his shoulder at the bed. "That's where she met Lizzie."

"Lizzie?" Jack reached for the pillow Ianto had used, tucking it up under his chest and resting his chin on it. It smelled like Ianto.

"Her girlfriend." He turned around, leaning against the window frame. "I moved to London -- stayed with her for a while actually -- and when I couldn't land a steady job she recommended me for an archival job." He smiled a little. "Always had a head for organization and such."

"And making coffee," Jack teased.

"And making coffee," Ianto agreed, giving his lover a fond smile.

"Where happened to her Canary Wharf?"

"Mission in Scotland. Nessie had been acting up and Two called for assistance," Ianto replied. "She and her two team members were part of the 27."

"Two Canary Wharf survivors in one family." Jack rolled onto his back, letting go of the pillow.

"Three," Ianto corrected, crossing the floor to crawl up into bed. "Lizzie too."

"You Joneses sure are something else," Jack said, carding his fingers through Ianto's hair and kissing him softly. Ianto smiled into the kiss, pressing up against his lover.

Tegan was waiting in the Plass when the TARDIS materialized on the Invisible Lift, hands in her pockets as she rocked back and forth on her feet. Jack, Donna and the Doctor hid inside the police box while Ianto exited, giving his sister a fierce hug.

"She's sort of scary," Donna said, peering out the door cautiously.

She's just like Donna, Jack mouthed to the Doctor, making the Time Lord grin.

"Go on, Captain," he urged, giving the immortal a little nudge. "Go meet your family."

Jack paused for a moment, letting what the Doctor said sink in. A family. He had a family again.

Tegan pulled away from her brother when he stepped out of the TARDIS. "You did something to him, Harkness," she accused.

Jack shot Ianto a how does she know?! look. The younger immortal shrugged, matching his gaze. "I -- I did?"

"Yes." She crossed her arms, but gave him a familiar smile. "He's happy again." Without warning, she pulled him into a rough, friendly hug. Jack looked over Tegan's shoulder and Ianto laughed a little, putting his hand over his mouth.

"And if you hurt him, I'll test that immortality theory to the fullest, Captain."

"TEGAN!"
