TOSHIKO:

For as long as Tosh had been there, the Information Booth cover had been bare walls and dusty floors and a big CLOSED sign propped up in the little window.

Then Jack had hired the new kid from London, Ianto. He'd survived Canary Wharf. She hadn't gone to London, but Owen and Suzie had gone to scavenge things (before UNIT got off its collective arses and decided that maybe a little help was needed) and they'd said it was... indescribable. A hole in the middle of London. Bodies and smoke and the general oppressive feeling of death and destruction.

She figured that it was a bit like how the Americans must have felt back in 2001. Sort of so devastating it was numbing, that you couldn't quite grasp the enormity of it -- yet.

Ianto was the image of office professional: Always in a suit, always smiling, always helpful.

She suspected it was a mask. Tosh herself had been all sorts of helpful when she'd been at the MoD.

Jack had sent her up with some work for him to do (she privately though Jack was loading work onto him to see if he could take it), but when she'd rounded the corner into the Information Booth she'd stopped as soon as she stepped past the beaded curtain.

The Information Booth... looked like an Information Booth. There were posters and decorations on the walls, pamphlets and leaflets arranged nicely on the counters. The lighting had even been changed, warm and inviting halogen instead of stark medical florescent illuminating the far corners.

Ianto laughed suddenly at the look of surprise on her face. "Looks like a real cover story now, doesn't it?" he said, giving her a warm smile.

OWEN:

First time out in the field, and the idiot kid gets a concussion. Well, it could be a concussion, Owen wasn't sure yet. Which is why he was stomping around Ianto, pulling out this piece of equipment and that piece of tech, planning on making Ianto hate this so much he never did something so stupid again.

"I can't believe you. What the hell sort of training did they give you in London?"

"London -- "

"You do not go after a Weevil without a weapon!" Owen shouted, cutting off any and all arguments.

Ianto giggled. He fucking giggled. He stared at the new archivist. "Did it before," he said smugly. "Got me this job."

Well, it was a concussion, no doubt about it. Ianto wasn't the giggling kind, nor the kind to volunteer that sort of information.

Owen popped him on the back of the head, just enough to hurt but not enough to cause further damage. "I'm recommending that Jack never let you out of the Hub ever again."

JACK:

Jack knew he wasn't being arrogant when he assumed that sex with him was fun. Sex was pretty fun in general, and he had over 100 years of experience to make it as fun as possible for all people involved.

It still caught him off-guard when Ianto laughed somewhere above his head, a breathless sort of chuckle. Strong fingers ran through his brown hair and he looked up, resting his chin over the still thumping heartbeat of the man underneath him.

"Holy..." Ianto said before laughing again, his head tipping back to land on the desk with a gentle thud. A full belly laugh, still breathless but sated and truly happy, chasing the sadness and sorrow of Suzie and Lisa and just everything horrible about Torchwood back where it belonged, down to the crypts and sub-basements and back into the far dark corners.

Jack felt lighter than he had in months. Years.

Ianto pulled him up to kiss him, slow and thorough and oh so gloriously full of tongue. He ran a hand down Ianto's sides, grabbing his hips again. "Round two?" he murmured against the Welshman's mouth.

"I don't have your stamina, sir," Ianto teased, his lips twisting up into a sexy smile. "I'll need a little break."

"Oh?" The question sounded far too innocent in his own ears. "Let me see if I can help you along."

Ianto's laugher followed him as he kissed his way down the younger man's torso.

GWEN:

"Ianto! Time and a place!"

"Yeah, but he's funny though."

Gwen paused halfway through her sentence with Rhys. Ianto was laughing. Toshiko and Owen were dead, the Earth had been pulled out of the sky and thrown God knew where, the police were calling them frantically demanding to know what the fuck was going on, UNIT was blaming them for this whole thing.

And Ianto fucking Jones was laughing.

After a moment's thought, she realized that he was just laughing at the dark, blowing off steam before he burst. It happened on the force, sitting around at the precinct and cutting up while everyone waited for a call. It happened at Torchwood, Gwen and Tosh and Owen cutting up via the comms before Jack had to step in and scold them like naughty schoolchildren while they were staking out a target.

"Gwen? Gwen, you still there?"

They all handled stress in different ways. She'd done the same thing when she'd rung up Rhys. Instead of putting on a brave face and laughing, she turned to her husband, found a little bit of respite to put herself back together before throwing herself back headlong into the fray.

Maybe he was braver than her, laughing instead of turning to someone else. They were all busy, and logically Jack would be the one Ianto would turn to. He was being strong until everything was done and he and Jack would put themselves back together.

"GWEN!"

IANTO:

It took him a few moments to realize that he had burst out laughing. Hysterically. In public, people staring at him like he'd finally gone 'round the bend. He fought down a sudden blush, still laughing uncontrollably, tears starting to prickle the corner of his eyes.

Jack frowned at him, worry painted across his face. "Ianto?"

He covered his mouth with one hand, his eyes with the other, trying to get control of himself. It took a few minutes for him to calm down, taking deep breaths.

"Ianto?"

He felt another laugh bubbling up. "Yes,” he said, grinning like a fool. “Yes, Jack, I'll marry you."
