For all that I feel I should weep at the end of this, I can't help but smile. This is just so poignant and sweet; I'm glad the boys got to choose their own time and place to end it, that they are truly not immortal. And to become a part of the Big Bang and perhaps start over to find one another again... priceless.

It is such a Ianto thing to keep a meticulous list on where and when Ianto and Jack end up in their travels. And I like that it is the death of the Doctor that has them make the final decision to end it all.

Truly a beautiful way to end their journey.

Technically it's not. Their linear time he's been dead for quite a while. The list at the end was of people they wanted to go back and see, or to say good-bye to. They saved the Doctor for last, because he would have been hardest to track down (they couldn't pop up when they KNEW he would be somewhere, because the only times they were sure of where he was they were with him!)

This...is heartbreakingly beautiful in all of the best ways. Gorgeously done and just...such a beautiful moment of realization about recycling and how things happened.

That...you are fantastic.

I will say, that I read the last half of this chapter while listening to Queen's "We Will Rock You" with that lovely sense of anticipation...nice. :-D

I really loved this. It made cry and smile. The only thing that took me out of that happy place was the line,"Stars explode into giants, then shrink into dwarfs and turn into black holes,". As an aspiring Theoretical Astrophysicist(no joke. I really want to be one) and presently a physics major, that line was glaringly not accurate. A white dwarf will never be a black hole unless it is "swallowed" by one. Stars that become BHs start as massive main sequence stars and after their internal fusion ends the core collapses and the power and heat of said collapse causes the star to explode into a Super Nova and either form a neutron star or (if it was REALLY massive) the gravity on that neutron star will be so great that the star itself would collapse in on itself and create a black hole [with "streaming" or "jetting" out of the poles (but I don't want to bore you with the details of that and then get off on a tangent about Gamma Ray Bursts }=D)]. Also, stars expand into Giants not explode into them....but now I'm being picky ( ... )

Dude, it's faaaaaar too early for this much science.

Seriously though, thanks for the info. I was working on information I'd learned back in space camp as a kid in elementary school.

How's this sound?

"Think, Ianto. What do you know about stars?"

Confused blue eyes met Jack's. "Big burning balls of mass. Most normally expand into Giants, then shrink down into Dwarfs."

"And what about Black Hole stars?" Jack prompted.

"They start as massive Main Sequence stars. Instead of expanding after internal fusion ends, they explode into Super Novas, form a Neuron star. If the star was truly massive, the Neuron star collapses in on itself. But Jack, you knew that already."

I'd love to read about the rebirth. Who they are, how they meet.
