I just read that
"Older preschoolers are as passionate about collecting things as adults." Well, Gabby collects stuffed rabbits. Yes. Rabbits.
It started off as a gift when she was a babe and it quickly became her 'security blanket'. Then more rabbits were added as a measure taken by us to find replacements for the 'security blanket'. I get nightmares of possible situations where rabbit goes missing. Oh, yes. The rabbit is known simply as rabbit.
I should say WERE. Coz now with the additional rabbits, she's taken to calling it 'Baby Rabbit'.
She wouldn't even play with the other rabbit until I got the idea of 'mummy rabbit' and 'daddy rabbit'. She immediately played along by changing rabbit's name to BABY rabbit.
And then she received a FOURTH. This one's slightly different from the rest. The 4th is about the same size as a real rabbit and in a similar crouch position. I got a shock when Gabby named the new one 'Charlotte', all by herself. I thought with daddy, mummy, baby, I would hear something like mama or gonggong. Charlotte?! She's acting like Charlotte's her pet rabbit.
Now there's a new developement. Last night she received a FIFTH. Another crouching rabbit but tinier than baby rabbit. I argued that there can't be TWO baby rabbits. She was agreeable when I suggested 'Fluffy'. Don't ask me why. The name just popped into my head.
So now her Baby Rabbit has a pet rabbit named Fluffy.
Don't ask me the logics of it.
