So I voted today...

And let me tell you, those new-fangled voting machines sure look purty. (I've become accustomed to the area, I know...)

At this moment, I would like to evaluate the Pros and Cons of the Electronic Voting System:
Pro
-Ability to vote straight party ticket if necessary
-Ability to review votes in a summary page

Con
-Must...push...the....damn....screen....button!!!!!!!

Honestly, I had to beat the "easy-to-touch" screen to go back to certain ballots and what not. Tre frustrating. Also there were six machines available, so there was a line to wait for an available machine.

Yet I felt I made the real difference after I casted my ballot. I went up to the little old lady collecting the copies of the amendments up for consideration to turn my copy in. She offered me the choice of two stickers, both of which stated, "I voted!"

One sticker - the bigger one, had the logo and the words for Palmetto Family, sans "Council". This was the sticker she offered me first. I looked at the other sticker selection, and saw that it just had the American flag on it.

"I'll take the sticker with the flag please," I asked.
"All right, miss," she said. "Personally, I like that sticker too."
"I know," I commented. "I'd rather demonstrate that I took part in my civic duty without partisan influences too."

At that moment, she looked at the bigger sticker, and really took a good look at it. Her eyes looked at me funny, then looked at the stickers. At last glance, I saw her throwing away the bigger stickers in the trash.

It's not much....but at least it's something.
