in addition to
the fics I read & loved for
hd_tropes I also read some other HP fic, mostly Drarry, over the summer. TBH, the majority of the fic I'm reading lately hasn't been HP, and I've honestly been reading more published works than fanfic this past year, but here are some of the HP fics I read and enjoyed over the past few months!
Title:
No room left for echoesAuthor:
lounonymousePairing(s): Harry/Draco, background Ron/Hermione
Rating: G
Word Count: 6,533
Content/Warnings: pre-slash, pets
Summary: No matter what Harry did, the words steadfastly refused to make sense: 'Draco Malfoy: Pet Whisperer'.
In which Harry Potter steals a goldfish and Draco Malfoy loves his one-eyed cat.
Such a light and charming read! There were so many lovely details here that made this one shine, and Harry's voice was perfection.
Title:
SilverpointAuthor:
tackytigerPairing(s): Harry/Draco, minor Draco/Charlie, Draco/OMC, mention of past Harry/Charlie, background Ron/Hermione
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 8,836
Content/Warnings: 2nd person POV, secret relationship, switching, bottom!harry, bottom!draco, injury,
hd-wireless 2019
Summary: "It seems fairly simple to you, but you know that you don't really understand love - how could you, after all? You've never known how to talk about it, but you've never had to before. Everyone you ended up loving has always understood. You've been able to show them, by fighting for them, dying for them.
That seems a bit much- after all, Malfoy just wants tea in bed and his cock in your mouth (not usually at the same time).
It's ok to love him, you reason with yourself - he doesn't have to know. No one ever has to know."
Or: How Harry Potter Fell In Love (and Realised that Draco Malfoy Loved Him Back).
Gorgeous fic that gave me ALL the feels. The second person POV is super effective here, and I loved the characterizations, and the way the mistakes and misunderstandings feel so very natural and human.
Title:
Welcome to the Broom ClosetAuthor:
incapriciousPairing(s): Harry/Draco, background Ron/Hermione, past Harry/Ginny
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 23,143
Content/Warnings: Auror!harry, first time, bottom!draco, (kind of) memory loss
Summary: Harry thinks he knows how his life will go: Become an Auror. Marry Ginny. Have a family. But then he sees an advertisement in the paper that no one else can see, and his life is turned upside-down. The Broom Closet: you can be anyone you want while you're there, but you won't remember it in the morning.
The concept of this whole fic is super interesting, and the author did such a great job with it! I really enjoyed the build of feelings, particularly with the extra layer of voluntary memory loss added on top. Wonderful read!
Title:
Easy In This BlueAuthor:
alpha_exodusPairing(s): Harry/Draco, background Ron/Hermione
Rating: R
Word Count: 23,795
Content/Warnings: professor!harry, professor!draco, implied bottom!harry, mental health issues
Summary: Nothing is easy after the war. It's only when he's with Draco, alone by the pool, that Harry feels like he can breathe again. And so he plays along and pretends it's real - until it's not.
Ooo, this fic is SO good! Post-war Harry and Draco are really excellently captured here, and I loved the evolution of their relationship. I had some suspicions in regards to the ~twist~ and the whole thing was fascinating and so engaging.
Title:
Where the Stones meet the Sea Series (2 Fics)
Author:
dracospungenPairing(s): Harry/Draco, past Harry/Ginny
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 23,830
Content/Warnings: mental health issues, suicidal thoughts, internalized homophobia, first time, bottom!draco
Summary: Harry is not content with the life he's living, he doesn't want to be the Saviour of the Wizarding World, he doesn't want to go to galas and fake smiles, holding speeches and most of all he doesn't want to be the Boy Who Lived.
In the mist of it all he receives a package carefully wrapped in brown paper, opening it to reveal its content he realises: it's a painting, a portrait of Draco Malfoy.
These fics are just lovely! I definitely think they need to be read together, as they provide two halves of a whole, though I also thought the first on its own worked well as-is. The writing here has a lovely lyrical, dreamy quality, and I loved the way the author portrayed both Harry and Draco struggling with depression in their own ways after the war. There's definitely angst here, but it's not without hope, and the ending was really just great!
Title:
Coax to BlissAuthor:
sdkPairing(s): Sirius/Harry
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 2,428
Content/Warnings: AU: Sirius Lives, shower!sex, dirty talk, intercrural sex, implied bottom!harry, semi-public!sex, praise!kink, light D/s,
hp_crossgenfest 2019
Summary: Harry likes to break the rules but he's very good at obeying when he wants to.
Super hot fic with a fabulous dynamic between Sirius and Harry!
