HD Tropes 2019 Fic Recs!
Now that reveals have gone up over at 
hdtropes and I've claimed my own fic I figured I'd do a quick post of my favorites from the fest! I read just about every entry (save for 1 or 2 I gave a miss due to content/length preferences!) and there were a lot of great submissions! Of course, I definitely had my personal favorites, and what stood out to me for all of these particular fics is that they really explored their given tropes in clever and unique ways. From an astrological-induced bond for bonding!fic, to both characters being undercover for identity!fic, to a fuck-or-die scenario involving statue-fucking, I loved all the clever and interesting ways these authors approached their tropes! Obviously, I highly recommend all of the below fics, but there were also a ton of other wonderful fics that I enjoyed, and I definitely recommend checking out the entire masterlist, as there really was something for every kind of H/D lover. :D

Really fun take on the ~made them do it~ trope! I really enjoyed the characterizations here, and the dynamic between Harry and Draco was great!

Wonderful fic with Harry and Draco fairly fresh off of a break-up and Harry really struggling to process what went wrong. The longing in this was wonderful, and I really felt that the reasons why things went sour between them made a lot of sense for them both. Their dynamic here was wonderful, and the ending was lovely and hopeful!

Summary: In which Draco is a Seer and artist, living with Pansy and Luna in a secluded house, working on occasion with the Ministry of Magic (not that he’s thrilled but solving crimes from afar seems like a worthy cause on some days) until Vision No. 33 brings Potter to his doorstep.
This fic was super fascinating! I have a soft spot for Seer!Draco, and Draco's backstory here and how he came into his powers and the additional ~curse~ upon him was utterly gripping. The dynamics between him and Harry was fantastic, and I just adored the build of tension.

Oh my goodness, this fic! I was captivated from the get-go and literally could not stop reading! Gorgeous characterizations, seriously smoking hot sex, and some really, really clever writing that leaves some key aspects of the plot ambiguous enough for the reader to have to make their own decisions. It's one of those fics that I both desperately want more of, and also think is absolutely perfect exactly how it ended.

“Space magic,” says Draco, tapping long fingers irritably against the arm of his chair. “You’re saying we’ve been zapped by space magic.”
The Healer huffs. “That’s rather simplifying things, gentlemen.”
Oh my goodness, this fic was just a delight! Full disclosure, it was written to me and thus pretty much includes SO MANY things that I love, but that definitely shouldn't stop anybody else from loving it too! I'm such a sucker for a good bonding fic, and I love the twist on the trope here and how the author managed to write a bonding scenario I've never read before... and I've read a lot! Beyond the awesome set-up, the characterizations here and the interactions between Harry and Draco were fantastic, and there were so many little details and gorgeously written lines that really made the story sing. Plus, UNF, the smut was unreasonable hot, preceded by all the tension a person could possibly desire. Highly recommend! <3

Ooo, this fic is Identity!Porn at its finest! The characterizations here are brilliant, and the way things unfold between Harry and Draco (and their alter-egos) is so fun and engaging, and I just could NOT stop reading in desperation to find out what would happen next!
