Many thanks to
icmezzo who sent me fic recommendations last month and gave me not one, but TWO, fantastic recommendations for non-Everlark fic. I've tried branching out a few times, but I've been disappointed with most of the non-Katniss/Peeta fics I've read, so I was super excited to read some rarer pairings that were well-written and worked for me!
Title:
The CaveAuthor:
sassenachwenchPairing: Katniss/Peeta
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 4,206
Notes: het, first time
Summary: For those who wanted more of Katniss/Peeta in their "cave".
God, this fic was everything I was looking for when I went looking for Everlark fic. This was exactly what I wished had happened in that cave.
Title:
The End is the BeginningAuthor:
spanglemaker9 |
spanglemaker9Pairing: Katniss/Peeta, mention of Gale/OC
Rating: Hard R
Word Count: 4,822
Notes: het, first time
Summary: Post-Mockingjay/ pre-epilogue. An expansion of Katniss and Peeta rediscovering each other.
This is beautiful and believable and fit so perfectly into canon.
Title:
Enough RopeAuthor:
theladyingrey42 |
theladyingrey42Pairing: Annie/Finnick
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 2,988
Notes: het
Summary: He saved the girl on fire and he doomed the girl who almost drowned. - What it was like in Finnick's head during the first half of Mockingjay.
God, this was so gorgeously written. Beautiful and a bit heartbreaking.
Title:
CasualtiesAuthor:
shoefreak37 |
shoefreak37Pairing: Gale/Peeta
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 2,988
Notes: AU, major character death
Summary: For Peeta and Gale, the absence of Katniss is in everything. Together, they learn to remember without guilt, discover solace in unconventional places, and realize love can grow out of despair. Mockingjay-AU, slight spoilers, slash.
This was lovely and bittersweet and moving. Goes a bit AU towards the end of Mockingjay, with Katniss dying and Peeta and Gale left to pick up the pieces.
Title:
Friend of OursAuthor:
rawthornePairing: Gale/Peeta
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 7,394
Notes: dirty talk, talk of switching
Summary: They may not talk about it, but it did happen. The more Peeta tries not dwell on the details, the more his treacherous mind provides fodder for nightmares free of Capitol tampering. (Spoilers for the trilogy. Not epilogue compliant.)
Wonderfully written and a great build-up.
