Day 9
In your own space, rec at least 3 fanworks you thought you wouldn't like (because they weren't your fandom or they pushed against your boundaries or you thought you just wouldn't be interested) but you ended up loving.
There are a ton of fics I can rec here, but I managed to stick to three! And they are some of my all-time favorites!
Of course I need to have an H/D fic here. While the pairing/fandom isn't a suprise, there have been a lot of kinks that have worked for me in fics that I never thought I would go for. For instance, Counterpoise by faithwood, featuring Harry getting fucked by Draco as a white tiger. Bestiality in fics, or more accurately, xenophilia, is not something I thought I would ever be into, but this fic is crazy hot and it just works. I think, for me, the fact that it is still Draco, that the tiger is Draco, allows me to really get into it.
Sticking with the Harry Potter fandom but moving on to a pairing I seriously never thought I would be into, we have Thursday Nights, a Draco/Severus fic by gypsyflame, which I actually just finished reading last night. I know Snape is a popular character in fandom, but I have honestly never been able to get into it, and him being actively paired with anybody in fics, even as a side pairing, is usually a deal breaker for me. I think he reminds me too much of a not-at-all arousing teacher I had in high school. But despite my major Snape reservations, this fic was hot like burning and I love love loved the characterizations of Draco and Severus. This fic felt so natural within the scope of Deathly Hallows and the ending was perfect. I am all about Draco/Severus now. :)
And finally I am going to go with a fic that totally shocked me with how much I seriously enjoyed it: Always Find Me Here by
wildsky. First off, the fic is from A Song of Ice and Fire fandom, which is one I really only recently started dabbling in, so surprising fandom. Second off, the fic is Sandor/Sansa and Joffrey/Sansa, all characters I am not totally crazy about in the books and HET, which is normally not my thing at all. Finally, there is some serious dub-con/non-con/rape happening kind of on and off-screen, which isn't triggering for me, but I still find it hard to read. But this fic is fantastic. The characterizations are so spot on and the actions feel like actions they would take in canon. Joffrey making Sandor fuck Sansa in front of him as punishment for not getting pregnant, and Sansa enjoying it and encouraging it, while trying to make it seem like she isn't. Sando wanting to protect Sansa even while following the King's orders to save both their lives. And the ending. God, it was so freaking perfect.
