Music Monday: NUMBERS

Mar 22, 2010 19:10

Woooooow. I let Music Monday fall by the wayside. Uh... oops? It's been over a year since I last did one. I don't think anyone missed it much anyway, but I'm still bringing it back. :-p

So this one is Numbers, HURT's newest single. Still no word on if it's going to be on their next album or if its just 'hey, we're still alive! See? Here's proof!' kinda single. Honestly, first listen via streaming radio, I didn't really care for it. I didn't hate it, but it was low quality and I couldn't catch the lyrics very well and it was just... kinda meh. But I bought it when it hit Amazon, and after a few listens, I fell in love. It just continues to grow on me. I especially LOVE the end of it. It's just powerful.

HURT - NUMBERS
listen here

On a sunny day that I wake
Doubt that I'll get better tomorrow
Maintained by the reasonable thing that I wish
Underneath my eyelids
So much hate and violence
What it took to build me
Wasn't enough to kill me

Oooooooh, let me lie some more
I really needed a friend
Who'll listen till the end

Such a pleading case that I made
Convinced them that we could do again
What we did back then
But even better tomorrow
Just another number
Dropped for better value
To nothing but build me
Wasn't enough to kill me

Ooooooh, let me lie some more
I really needed a friend
At least until the end

Would you give me life support?
It never has to end
These are the numbers
Let me look at the numbers

Now, what will be, will be, will be, kills me

Ooooh, let me lie some more
It never has to end
But look what we began

You gave me life support
And never let it end
And listened till the end

Cause you, you were my support
When I really needed a friend
Just look at the numbers
Cause we are the numbers

hurt, music monday, lyrics, music
