Sorry, all...fell off the planet for a few days. I had to step away from the computer for a while to...um...ascertain my dependence on it? We've been reviewing some priorities this past week. Our Sunday School lesson was about how roped into the world we are. Over the past several weeks, I have sensed God impressing upon me the need for sanctification...really being set apart from the world, in lifestyle, in mindsets, in habits, everything. As we're conformed to the image of Christ, we have to prepare to let go of all the stone that has to be chiseled away in order for us to "look like Him." We're being pruned so we will bear more fruit. What are we hanging onto that's blocking God's blessings in our lives? So...the computer fast...which really didn't last long. My entire life is on this screen: my homeschool log, my calendar, my social life, my research, my creative outlets...huge chunks of my brain. What culture shock I would experience if I had to write everything on paper and rely on the library for entertainment! And yet...I sense there needs to be a willingness in myself to do that.
Ok...on another note, since my kids and I have been studying Exodus lately, I decided we should do a mock Passover celebration, so we did that Sat. night using a book on the Jewish feasts, written from a Christian perspective (CELEBRATE THE FEASTS by Martha Zimmerman). It was rather involved but it was a neat learning experience for our whole family. Each food is symbolic of some aspect of the story of Exodus, and although it wasn't all tasty, it was memorable! I have toyed with the idea of celebrating the other feasts as well (like maybe even at the right time), but we'll have to see.
Great to see Mama C contributing here. I'm feeling sort of so-so...always rather tired and never entirely sure what I should eat, as nothing is all that appealing, but I'm grateful to have lost a little weight, as I was up around my high and I still have 6 months to go! Kids got to hear the baby's heartbeat last week...they thought it was cool. I'm at 13 weeks, as of tomorrow. Supposed to have an ultrasound at 20 wks.
Sorry for the book. I'll try to update more frequently in the future.
