springtime, revisited

Well, it's two weeks later and Friday was the day. Actually, it was the Day of Medical Things. I drove down to Ann Arbor to get my stitches out (FINALLY. I was so tired of them. In fact, I think I ripped out some in my sleep.) and then went to West Bloomfield to visit my dad, who had hip replacement surgery on Wednesday. I thought they were keeping him in the hospital until Saturday, which would have allowed me some time to get his rooms ready.

But no.

I get there (after trying to be clever and ending up a little lost before finding my way back to the right road - I mean really, who needs GPS? You lose so many little adventures that way...) and am informed he is being released. Hours pass waiting for all of the myriad details to be resolved and finally we get out of there and I start the trek back to the farm in rush hour traffic. I get back, we get Dad somewhat settled, and then I'm off to pick up the kids for the weekend. Thankfully the Nieceling was doing a volunteer stint to meet her National Junior Honor Society requirements (yes, I'm proud of her - following in my footsteps, she is!Heh heh...) and so we picked them up later than usual.

A lot of miles.

To top off the medical theme, both brothers had doctor appointments yesterday. So we were all doing some health-related thing. But my dad is doing well, my stitches are gone and there was no mention of root canals, and everyone seems to be doing all right. Thanks to the Powers That Be.

Today is cleaning, and tomorrow will be cleaning. It IS spring, after all, despite the return of below-freezing temperatures. I am getting tired, but at least I'm accomplishing something; something visible.

It has come to my attention that I make great breakfasts. Good to know.

I have developed more of my gardening plan in my head. Found some good sources for seeds, fruit trees and berry bushes. This also makes me happy.

Making plans with the kidlings for a late Easter celebration in conjunction with their birthdays (and their grandfather's birthday; 3 birthdays in 7 days, help me Rhonda) and the next time they're here. It's a little difficult with this every other weekend stuff, but we work it out. And to be truthful, this one works out very well.

Well, need to get back to the spring cleaning binge. All in all, it's a good weekend.
