I am sure, if you were terribly bored and went through the archives of this blog, that at least once every year during the month of October, there will be a post saying how this is my favorite month, and not because it's my birth month. Both of which are true. I'm sure I love October because I get to have people wish me Happy Birthday and all that - and make no mistake, I love that - but truly, it's just the beauty of the month itself that speaks to my soul. Many times this month I've been driving and, looking at the colors of the trees, the purple, gold and white of the flowers by the roadside, the changing colors in the sky - it's by far the most beautiful time of year. And it's not so frakkin' hot anymore, which is just another HUGE point in October's favor.
Well, it's been a long time since I posted. A lot has been going on, not bad or anything, just busy. Did I mention my September concert with Annie and Rod Capps? Wonderful. And hilarious. Then I got a bit of temp work, which has turned into a bit longer assignment. And that's been helpful. I had not one but TWO shows in the glorious month of October ;-), and boy, let me tell you, they were both superb. It really made me think about all the truly amazing music that has happened here this year. I mean, it just seems that the music was amazing; it all just flowed this year. Maybe it's just that I'm getting the hang of preparing for them. But that floaty feeling I used to get after a good show is coming back, more and more. That's a good thing.
Another good thing is that Pippa has finally forgiven me. The April-cat is gone to a good home now, and a month later, Pippa's finally decided it's okay to come and sleep with me again. That made me happy. What that also means is that we are at our maximum of cats around here. Mr. Puggs, our porch cat, is going to remain an outside cat (not that this was ever really in question). The Almighty Trio has regained full ascendancy here.
Things are getting busy in several areas of my life, and that's a good thing. I'm even feeling like cooking again - made a plum cake yesterday, am in the middle of making chicken dumpling soup right now, and have plans for scones sometime this week, if I can get some time between work and meetings.
I need to go check on my soup and my laundry. No rest for the wicked. ;-)
