I watched. I don't agree with some of the things Trevor Noah says here-particularly the things he says about black-on-black violence. I also wonder to what extent he's using his lens as a South African black man to look at the experience of being black in the U.S. (Are they the same experience? Maybe they are. I don't know.)

That said, there's no denying that America's criminal justice system is deeply, deeply steeped in racism. About the George Floyds who didn't end up dying-the third season of the podcast Serial is extremely instructive, and I highly, highly recommend it if you haven't already listened to it. You can find it here: https://serialpodcast.org/

Thanks for the comment.
His words about building a society, although simplified, is what grabbed me.
And thanks for recommending Serial. I'll check it out. So much to listen to, I need to go for a LONG drive.

Thank you for linking to the Trevor Noah video! Even if I disagreed with some of it, it was very thought-provoking-and I linked to it and cited you in my own diary entry today. 😀

I found Serial today and listened to the first three episodes of Season 3 and shook my head too many times to remember. I didn't know how much freedom these judges have with their rulings. And how they were continually unchecked. The unfairness of it all. I suppose the DA's in these situations simply become overwhelmed and anesthetized.

So depressing. FuckinA.

Isn't your son who just passed the bar working with something like the ACLU? Won't he be in courts similar to what I'm hearing on Serial?
